PPP Poll
That didn't take long.

The Longhorns have the biggest athletic budget in college sports and one of the most recognizable brands in the country, but Texas A&M seems to have Texas beat in terms of popularity in it’s own state.
According to a recent poll numbers from Public Policy Polling, among those surveyed, 22% of fans identify themselves Aggies and 20% as Longhorns. This is a considerable shift from the last time this poll was conducted in September of 2011, when the Longhorns had a 23% to 15% lead over the Aggies.
That didn't take long.

Sometimes little brothers luck up and beat their big brother.

b/c there isn't a strong college sports culture in Texas, the transients will pick whoever is winning... that shouldn't surprise anyone.
the state is much more enthusiastic as a whole when it comes to high school football and professional football/basketball.

I agree with Cheshire, despite the butchered grammar.

Why the hell would I want to move on? Watching the horns writhe in anguish as they fall further behind was always going to be one of the more enjoyable benefits of going to the SEC.
And this info is relevant to the rest of the SEC for expansion/SEC Network purposes. Namely, there's really no need to bring in the horns for expansion, and the popularity of the Aggies in Texas will mean carriers in Texas won't be able to hold out against the SECN.

so what you are saying is that you're glad you got all the whorn t shirt fans to come root for you the last few years?

If Auburn left the SEC, then two years later polls showed AU was much more popular in the State than Alabama, you wouldn't be happy about that?

I've got nothing against t-shirt fans. T-shirt fans = $$$. And the more popular the school is, the larger the applicant pool from which to select new students.

Little brother syndrome at its finest.

Comparing the polls tu lost 3% of their fans (23% down to 20%) since 2011 and A&M gained 7% (15% to 22%).. so even IF everyone who dropped being a fan of tu went on to become Aggie fans, that's less than half of what we gained in total since 2011.
Isn't math fun?
