Is the concept of the 'SEC fan', the dumbest thing ever?

Any non-Bama(?) SEC fan that roots for Bama in yet another National Championship game needs to have their heads examined.
At this point nobody should be giving any fricks about keeping the BCS championship in the SEC. Everyone should be thinking of ways to end Saban's reign, to restore some much needed parity.
Saban is luring top recruits away from all the other SEC schools and winning multiple championships at other schools' cost.
So the next time you decide to root for Bama against Oregon or Notre Dame or FSU, think of it as Saban stealing more from you...right from under your noses.

I pull for all SEC teams in out of conference games. I won't deny there is a bit of schadenfreude when they lose, but that's more a result of internet messages boards than any real enmity.
So in the sense that I have a natural inclination to see those teams which I feel some kinship with do well when facing those I don't, I am an SEC fan.
In conference play, I pull for the team to win that will improve my teams chances of winning the Championship.

The only time i pull for another SEC school is if they are playing Oklahoma,Texas,or Ohio State. frick em any other time.

I admit I rooted for Bama in 2009. But little did I expect them to win 2 more in the next 3. At a certain point the SEC loyalty ends and you start thinking about how this other team's success is affecting your own team.

I always root for the SEC team in an OOC game. If the SEC wins we all win in terms of pulling recruits from NON SEC states

Yep. I would be more inclined to be an SEC fan if anyone other than Bama had done anything worth a frick these last few years.

How do you as a fan plan on doing that? Going through Saban's garbage? I do tend to think the "SEC fan" thing and "keeping it in the SEC" is a bit ghey, but calm the frick down.

I've probably needed that for a while, but that has nothing to do with rooting for Bama in the NC (which I'll definitely do).

Not all of them. Auburn certainly. LSU and Georgia - yeah. A&M not so much.

It's equally as abstract a concept as being a fan of a sports team you never played for and, for many people, never even went to the university they represent
