MSU upsets #1 Alabama #WeRemember
TL;DW on the video:
-Bama's QB Don Jacobs was being a little bitch about the noise. Constantly looking back at the refs and whining at them that he couldn't hear.
-Bama has a delay of game penalty, but the refs decide it didn't count because it was too loud.
-After MSU recovers the fumble, they have to run the clock out with one play. A Bama d-lineman illegally slaps the ball while the ball is being snapped to cause a "fumble". Of course there was no flag but luckily State recovers.
Until that game, Alabama had gone 28 straight games without a defeat, claiming two conference championships and two national championships over the span. The Tide had been ranked the No. 1 team in the country for seven weeks and was riding an 8-0 streak most felt was leading them to a third straight national championship.
Another interesting note... Alabama was running the wishbone formation, which the MSU head coach at the time, Emory Bellard, invented.

Might do it. Wife is onboard, but we have to find a pet-sitter. And get a hotel.

Great game. I always liked watching highlights of that game with my dad.
But the chances that that happens this year are 0.0000000000000000000000000000001%

State also nearly won the SEC in 1980. Not is much this year.

Funny. I was just about to post this.
That was a tough day as a Bama fan. Even as frustrated as the offense had been, I felt sure they would score on that last play from the four yard line.
That was the last time UA had a shot at three straight NC's and was riding a 28 game winning streak at the time. Similar situation Saturday, but I'm pretty sure there will be a lot more than 9 points scored.

You probably won't have much luck. Bama brings the most to town by far.

Bama had 3 great teams. '77 '78 '79, before that 1980 season. The '80 team wasn't nearly as good as those three.

It's weird watching the game. Both teams are really sloppy with the ball. Also, both teams were very celebratory after routine plays and just making field goals, even in the first half.

Hmm...645 kickoff... thinking about just going for the day. Just worried that a typical 90 minute drive back to Tuscaloosa will actually be a 4 hour drive with traffic.

My parents hadn't even met yet when that game was played.

We're gonna embarrass Alabama and Nick Saban is gonna have a stroke on the sidelines.
Book it.
Book it.

Yeah, late games are a nightmare on 82 with everyone leaving about the same time.
