our o-line has improved so much, it's really unbelievable how much better they are now.

my question is do the wr's coach not teach our receivers to lay out and at least attempt to catch overthrown balls? granted on some passes it's just not needed but i have seen several passes just beyond the tip of the fingers that might have been caught had they for the ball. not really a gripe, just wondering why they don't!

I've been thinking the same thing. Could it be that they are coached to keep running as opposed to diving similar to how a runner in baseball is taught to run through 1st base as opposed to sliding?

I know I'm reaching.

I don't think so.

In the title game against ND Coop could have had one by trying for it, it wasn't even overthrown, he just stopped trying.

Same with the one against UT. Coop could have had it, just didn't try.

As for AJ's misses against LSU.

- One to Jones was just Jones not running his route right

- One to White in double coverage is a TD if Loston plays the run fake, so not a badly thrown ball as White would have ran right under it, but not sure why AJ threw it.

- Missed the crossing route to White, had a LB behind him, would have turned up field and got a first down maybe more, just a little too far out in front, from inside BDS it looked like White could have made a better attempt for it, on tv you can't tell.

- Miss to OJ Howard was a bit overthrown and near the sideline, if OJ had laid out for that one he may have had it, but probably would have touched out of bounds.

- Flea Flicker to Bell was the right call, but to the wrong player. Bell has clearly lost a step and AJ doesn't have timing with the slower Bell. Should have let White or Coop go deep.

- Third down to Yeldon. Hit TJ's hands, but irrelevant as it wouldn't have been close to a first anyway.

I can't believe we keep calling so much short shite though. We could really open it up, we have at times, but then it is back to screens. Saban said AJ's shoulder was hurt from the UT game, so maybe that is why we were passive in the passing game.

Someone did a science experiment about diving. It's pretty useless. You're just as good to keep running

Exactly, they have all caught some amazing balls, but diving catches can get you hurt and you hardly ever catch them. If you're slow it can help to dive, cause you do speed up, but if you're fast and already full speed it does no good.

It isn't even about diving, it's about stretching your arms out on some. The too about Coop I mentioned were easily catchable if he gives more effort.
