Top BCS Academic schools?

Kind of an interesting read, not to mention an interesting way to come up with their rankings.
IF you want to ascribe to their rankings, it would kind of put a dent into some of the so-called academic teams, and how they play at a disadvantage. (Ga. Tech, UCLA, USCw, Duke, etc.)
More of an off-season thread, but I found it interesting and thought you might, too. These are based on 2012...

The better question here is who the frick is the New American Foundation and what is their agenda?

Ummm...all your link did was show the stats they based it on....did I miss something?

Here is another link to their site. It looks like they are some kind of policy group. I figured they might be political, which MIGHT be their main focus...but they obviously dabble in sports a bit, too.

The final paragraph gets me

Written like someone that knows nothing about college sports. It is 10 times harder for a college athlete to do as well or even graduate. With all of the extra work they have to do it's amazing that any graduate.

It took the BCS top 25 frozen at a certain point of time before bowl games and then ranked them academically. If you weren't in the top 25 BCS rankings at the time you didn't get ranked.

That is what it indicates...but I don't ever remember Utah State or San Jose State being ranked in the top 25. or Kent State, for that matter. Something isn't quite right. It looks like they are talking about the top 25 ranked football teams....but it means the top 25 ranked football teams academically.

Ever play college sports? Class time and then you put in 2-3 hours of practice time and football classroom/film sessions. College athletes really don't have a WHOLE lot of extra time to do a lot of studying. Then....a lot of them want to still get in time to socialize. (Read: get into trouble doing stuff they shouldn't be doing) It is a lot harder for a college athlete to graduate than a regular student because of all the time restraints.
