I need to vent but this is some serious bullshite.

I bought a used, but not abused, F-150 that is in excellent condition. The locking hub system for the 4x4 is vacuum controlled and designed that when there is a loss of vacuum the hubs lock even if the transfer case isnt engaged in 4x4. There was a small leak in one of the lines causing some noise when going at interstate speeds on an incline or when the engine gets under load. Well one day I was driving and the whole line popped loose on the drivers side locking the hub completely in and it trashed the hub.

I have a lifetime drivetrain warranty but it doesnt come into effect until 90 days after the purchase. Ford "fixed" it by replacing both hubs and saying they "repaired" the lines. The whole bill cost me $1500 so the problem should be fixed right? I get the truck back and there was still some noise so I took it back and they said there was still metal shavings in the lines so they blew out the lines and said it was good to go. There was still noise so I took it back AGAIN, they did the same thing and said it was good.

Here is where it starts to get really good. I called them back and told them there was still noise and they said to bring it in. I bring it back and they said they were really back up with work and wouldn't be able to get to it until this past Monday. I told them I would have it there when they open. They again told me they were still backed up and wouldnt be able to get to it until Tuesday.

So I took it to another place and they said they knew about the problem really well and could replace the vacuum lines. They get into it and see that the hubs are damaged and needs to be replaced.

So overall I am about to have to eat another $1000 bill to have this fixed because Ford fricked me and my warranty doesnt come into effect until next month. I am so pissed off at Ford right now I cant even see straight.

Not yet. I am taking the truck back to Ford tomorrow. The dealer is my uncle so I am sure I will be able to get it taken care of but this is just ridiculous. I shouldnt even be in this is position because I paid them to fix it and they didn't.

Service departments and the sales departments are completely separate entities and both are designed to wring as much money out of you as they can. I guarantee you they submitted your repair to Fomoco warranty dept and collected their money again and now that it isn't fixed it will cost them to fix it so they don't want to do it. Call the district manager and complain that usually works.

So, it's your uncle's dealership that has screwed you on the repair?

If I read that right Uncle and I would have a come to Jesus meeting.

I've been driving F-150s for decades and never had a bad one.

There is always an exception to the rule though - I would contact Ford Customer Service at +1-800-392-3673.

I would kick that dude in the nuts, and tell him to fix that shite and give you your money back. Unless you are in his will and going to take over said dealership.

I got the receipt from the place that just inspected it and it details what is damaged and the cause of the problem. The hubs are damaged because the vacuum hoses are bad and that is what Ford was supposed to fix.

I am taking it to my uncle Monday morning and telling him what is going on and I know he will do the right thing and have it fixed but I shouldnt have to go to him to get this thing fixed. The service manager didn't think that it was a priority to fix something that they have already been paid to do and should have done it right the first time so I guess I have to go all the way to the top to get it done right.

Is it damaging the truck by driving it the way it is? If it is just noise I'd drive it till the warranty kicked in. Also, you probably could have rented a rinky dink car to drive for two months for a lot less than $1,500.

So you bought a used truck and the dealership/Ford wouldn't goodwill the work during the 90 day interim period?

If you paid a shop $1,500 they should have a warranty on their work to fix anything that happens on the portions they repaired free of charge. You're probably fricked on the $1,500 unless you get to Ford corporate/the dealership's General Manager and they do something for you, but spending another dime is not advisable.

For what it's worth, those grace periods before the warranty kicks in are generally to make it so dealerships aren't reconditioning their cars for sale under the factory warranty. You should probably be up your salesman/the used car manager's arse. I'm assuming you didn't get a warranty from the dealership, but they should have some responsibility to sell you a decent rig if you just bought it, unless it was done completely AS-IS.

When I was running a place like that I'd get people in six months later bitching about stuff breaking on their used cars. Bitching at your uncle is probably not a bad thing.

Start with the Used Car Manager and Service Manager. If they're no help, go to the GM. If that's no help, go to Ford corporate.

Some state Lemon laws cover used cars. As they should, especially if sold by a dealership.

These are the reasons I ditched my ford and bought a Dodge Ram 3 years ago. Of Course, that may have been in hindsight as within 6 months my transmission blew and was stuck with an $1200 bill to have it rebuilt.

Past that I've had 0 problems.
