Is 4 teams enough or just right?

Can we just give Bama the title every year and save the time and trouble? We're gonna claim it anyway.

I'd like 8-10 teams, personally.

4 is better than 2, but I'd prefer 6 or 8

Personally I would like 16 but 8 is fine with me. 4 is too few. Not even a playoff, just a short elimination round.

frick the playoffs and frick the SEC expansion too. The fricking SEC champ belongs in the Sugar Bowl God Dammit. Arkansas and Texas A&M belong in the SWC. South Carolina belongs in the ACC. Mizzou belongs in whatever the frick conference they just got kicked out of. I don't give a frick. frick you mother frickers.

Leave it at 4. I got no problem leaving out the #5 team.

4 is perfect.

The playoff NEEDS to be difficult to make to keep it special, it also makes the regular season matter.

If you make 8 teams (or more) you'll have a bunch of 1 loss and 2 loss teams making it every year.

Let's not turn college football into college basketball, aka a mostly meaningless regular season and then a high variance tournament.

People are so obsessed with making sure their team gets in they fail to realize that often their team will be hurt by a huge playoff.

If you're undefeated, 14-0 and #1 at the end of the regular season, now you have to go out and win ANOTHER 3-4 games? Haven't you already proven yourself? Why should #8 who's 9-3 have a shot at you? They haven't earned that shot.

Long story short, stop worrying so much about YOUR team making the playoffs and start worrying about creating a playoff where only DESERVING teams make the playoff.

The main reason 2 isn't enough is that you can have more than 2 teams from big conferences finish undefeated, as it's looking highly likely will happen this year.

This issue almost completely goes away with a 4 team playoff. It's almost impossible for all 5 major conference champions to finish undefeated.
