Good question. I think Boom may be a touch better but it's close

Zook never came close to an 11-1 regular season.

Why was Zook so hated. He just never seemed as bad as all the flack he got.

He went 8-5, 8-5, and 7-4 in the first 3 post Spurrier years. He didn't exactly set the world on fire.

He beat a National Champion LSU team in 2003, so yes.

he's better than zook but still not good enough to coach at florida. zook was really, really bad. a disparity in talent between florida and the rest of the sec was the reason for most of zook's wins. muschamp doesn't have that. the talent at florida is on par or worse than the best teams in the sec. and the injuries have taken a huge toll this year. with a relatively healthy squad, muschamp wouldn't be doing nearly as bad as zook.
he still needs to be replaced though. whenever that happens, muschamp will still land on his feet somewhere in college football.
ron zook works for a bank:

Without a TON of injuries we have suffered...Boom would have much better record....the talking heads quote 8 players out for the year yada yada, but the truth is our DL has been walking wounded and not even counting AA first rounder Easley. Our starting qb goes out early in third game. We have jack on the roster with any experience...God Bless Murphy but he is a starter only at places where football stadiums hold no more than 12,000 fans.
Boom deserves another year. You cant make chicken salad out of chicken shite.

It is a pretty close call, but given Zooks recruiting and his wins over LSU, Georgia, Tennessee, and Florida State. I'll go with the Zooker. Plus Zook took Illinois to the Rose Bowl as a bonus.

He followed Spurrier. Tough act to follow. Chomp just had some bad luck this year.

No, Zook is not a better HC than BOOM. BOOM needs a new OC. UF plays some really solid D and have lost valuable players off of that side of the ball. UF's O sucks big time. Zook inherited supreme talent. He was a fantastic recruiter, but could not coach them up and get them ready to play the game.

Everyone saying Muschamp is better than Zook is blinded by that 2012 fluke season. Muschamp is awesome at coaching defense and that is it. He has had just as many embarrassing losses and has accomplished no more than Zook did. Ultimately Zook had better wins and beat better coaches than Muschamp has.

I don't know why Florida fans would want him around. He hasn't proven he's anything more than the hot-headed DC he's always been. The offense is obviously not a priority.
