Does anyone else recall a meeting between two undefeated top 10 BCS conference teams in November that Vegas considered such a mismatch?

And why do I think laying the points is the smart bet?

ETA: I think we end up playing Miami in the Sugar, so that makes this thread superficially AU related....

Some people have us vs Wisky in the Sugar if I'm not mistaken. I think ACC only gets 1 BCS slot with Northern Illinois and Fresno busting the rest.

I pray that if we get to a BCS bowl we don't have to play one of those teams.
AU beatdown on Miami would be sweet revenge for '83.

Only 1 of NIU or Fresno is allowed into a BCS bowl should they qualify. ACC can have a 2nd team in if they have an at large team in deemed worthy....Right now it looks like we would be stuck playing UCF in the Sugar. Fiesta has the last pick and looks to be forced to take Fresno or NIU which mean the Sugar would take the AAC Champ, UCF

That's not entirely true. They can both make it if the 2 conferences that send teams to the BCSNC don't have another team in the Top14.

The top 14 part is correct but the top 2 part is not a stipulation. Reality is the BCS bowls will not take an at large school from one of the crap conferences over any at large qualifier from one of the big 5 conferences.

Just repeating what the sports networks have been saying the past 2 weeks. It's a possibility

For both NIU and Fresno to get in there has to be 4 BCS conferences without a 2nd team in the top 14. The PAC 12 and SEC will have a 2nd BCS team. Big 12 and ACC have decient shot of having a second team eligible also.

Never know how the season will play out. I was only saying there was a chance, which there is according to the BCS

Yes but reality is the chance is .0000000000000000000000001 a 2nd Mid Major team gets a BCS bowl under the current format because there is only 3 at large spots and the SEC and Pac 12 get 2 of them. The other 4 BCS conferences will have to not have a 2nd qualified at large team before a mid major at large would be remotely considered. Also the link you posted is exactly what I was eluding to and where I got the info that was in my 2nd post.
