Did Arkansas have a chance at hiring Malzahn?

If not, why not?

Seems like Gus's familiarity with the state and his scoring system would have been a better fit than Beliema.

doubt it...Gus didn't need another stepping stone job, ASU was his stepping stone to a big program

Most of the fanbase wants absolutely nothing to do with Malzahn, that's why

What decent and ethical coach would go there?

Yes. He would have been a decent hire. I prefer BB.

So they don't want a 7-1 start to the season or they don't want the last OC to take them to a SEC championship?

Idk. A good coach wouldn't go to Auburn.

But they do have luck on transition....too bad they can't sustain success.

Outside of a small contingent of fans in Springdale, no one in Arkansas likes him

Arky fans like to pretend they could have had him if they wanted. However, when a much better opportunity comes it wouldn't have mattered. Ultimately he chose a job that he can at least have a chance to win championships. Arky job doesn't provide that in any way.

They'll probably feel the same about BB by the time he's gone.

I don't think Arky fans like any of their coaches except the racist broyles.

Yeah, the "let's make predictions after not even one entire season" style usually doesn't work. Just saying

I guess Petrino was in way over his head in 08, right?

The fact is that many of Petrino's classes had ridiculous attrition. I can pull up the 2010 singing class and I don't even know half of them. Because they're not even on the damn team anymore. I feel great with Bielema because I see his staff and know that they know what they're doing. Could it take 2 or 3 years? Maybe. That'd be fine with me because he's proven he can run a big program

And they are idiots. Arkansas could have had Malzahn in a heartbeat. Instead they hired a Big Ten coach with a boring arse offense who can't recruit. Did Arkansas really think they were going to beat Alabama and LSU playing their same style but with vastly inferior players?

No. Because I doubt that he was even offered the job.

Naaa...it doesn't really matter who the coach is or whether they're winning, losing, no matter the method. Our fans as a general rule are either too judgmental or too tolerant and those two factions will constantly feud with one another for all eternity.
