We saw from last year that Gene Chizik is the worst thing to happen to the SEC ever, but he still somehow won a national championhsip. How is that so?

Most people say it was all Cam Newton and Nick Fairley. While I think they played a HUGE part, you don't get to the national championship without SOME coaching.

Looking back at it now, it was probably Gus Malzhan doing all the dirty work for Gene Chizik. He was the one in charge of that unstoppable offesnse. Auburn's athletic department probably realized that and immediately reeled him back in. They're going to be a huge program in the next coming years, and the Iron Bowl this year is going to be much more interesting.

no doubt about it. But all the Auburn fans need to get off Chizik's arse though, he was the one that hired him.

I'm glad Jeff Long doesn't know football.

I thought it was rather obvious that Newton + Malzahn = Natty

Yeah, that should probably be the title.

He has done well as a game day coach in his short tenure as a HC. 1 year at Arky St. as HC, and 1st year at Auburn. Too soon to tell. Gotta give time for coaching brainfarts to occur and to be questioned. It'll happen.

You always want " The Guy" to be the HC, and not an assistant. Anyone with eyes could see Gus was "The Guy" while watching Auburn's sidelines in 2010. Glad Gus is getting the credit he deserves now. Plus, the future Iron Bowls should be classics with both programs playing solid football now. It's a win-win for every CFB fan......

It's amazing the University of Arkansas let Bear Bryant, Tommy Tubs, and Gus Malzahn leave the state.

This is why Cam is the GOAT. Despite Chiziks best efforts, Cam won without any NFL talent around him.

Worse thing ever, really. He is a bad head coach but how did he hurt the SEC?

we're talking about a team who sandwiched a 14-0 season with 2 8-5 years. I think it was cam not Gus. heck one of those years his O was held to 14 at home vs Kentucky

Don't bring logic into this circle jerk...Gus is the GOAT.....

He will make Saban bow down to his godlyness.

Cam definitely made AU a championship team in 2010. But 2012 showed, Gus + coaching makes a huge difference here in Auburn.

You are seeing now what an entire program run by Gus can do, not just the offense. Any AU fan will tell you that the difference this year is not scheme or play calling, but attitude, discipline, and confidence. That is all Gus.

He's very confident on the sidelines and has a tendency to take shots at huge plays at random times during the game instead of sticking to what's working. They're have been a few times this year where we've been moving the ball with ease then Gus will go 3 and out taking shots down the field. I definitely think his "ambitious" play calling tendencies will cost him a game at some point.

How old are you? You ever heard of Curley Hallman?

You tell me which is worse 16-28 or 33-19 with a SEC championship and a National Championship.
