Throw out some random facts......something you enjoy......an experience you had

Nathan B. Forrest High School in Jacksonville is named after Confederate General and the very first Grand Dragon Wizard of the Ku Klux Klan. The Daughters of the Confederacy pushed for the high school to be named after him, even though he slaughtered hundreds of unarmed black union soldiers who had surrendered to his forces at Fort Pillow. At least one of the members of Lynyrd Skynyrd graduated from there.

I probably enjoy the Landing and hopping around from boat to boat the most. I've had some epic times at tWLOCP, only wish I had pictures/videos of some of it. Thrown down with the puppy dogs a time or two after the game (most notably after their "glorious" 2007 victory). They are soft for the most part, all bark and no bite.....literally. Only time in my life I've ever had the fear of being crushed to death was at the Landing one packed year.....that was scary

Had some good times in Jacksonville, but I'll let others chime in for now with their memories.....

No good stories for me, but random fact I didn't know:
quote:

Jacksonville is the largest city (in land area) in the contiguous United States. Jacksonville has an area of 2,264.5 km² (885 square miles), making it almost double the size of Los Angeles. A number of smaller cities and towns in Duval County merged on October 1st, 1968, to consolidate the city of Jacksonville under one local government, thereby making Jacksonville the largest city in the 48 contiguous states.

I didn't realize it was double the size of L.A.

Wonder which cities in Hawaii/Alaska are larger......

5 Jacksonville, Florida 747.0
I always forget how freaking big Alaska is...wish it was a more useful state

It's at least more useful than Jacksonville.

True. Besides hosting the WLOCP, Jacksonville doesn't have much going for it these days

I love the game being in Jacksonville. I lived in south Georgia in my teenage years and it was always the game me and my dad would go to since it was significantly closer than Athens. We pretty much just went to the game and left.

College I went twice. Once I gave the city of Jacksonville some money because they were really after underage drinkers.

Last year was one of the most fun times I've had tailgating and going to a game.

I have traveled to Jax/St Augustine many times for fishing tournaments and love fishing up in that area...Red Tops, Captains House, Picnic Table, a bunch of other areas....used to trailer my boat up there and developed friends...also fished Georgia/S Carolina & N Carolina....in addition to the gulf states.

Not only am I surprised by jacksonville's size, I'm surprised the top 4 are all in Alaska.

I remember when I was a kid we used to head into Jax. More people were wearing Braves and Georgia hats then Gator hats and when my dad took my took the Olympics in Atlanta, I saw more people wearing Florida gear. I always thought that was a bit odd.
