I thought Joker was brought in under the condition that he would be able to be OC if Pease got another job (HC, OC or otherwise) or to audition for other OC jobs.

He may not be cut out to be a HC, but he surely isn't going to stay a position coach for long.

I originally thought that Joker was a shoe in to take over for Pease.

Now, after reading from a very reliable poster on 247 that if Joker was going to take over, Pease would have been let go on Sunday and Joker promoted.

The conclusion I come up with is WM is possibly changing his philosophy on offense, and Joker was brought in to run the offense WM wanted to run, not Pease' or Jokers, but Muschamps. So, with WM change of heart, he won't promote Joker until he looks at the market and sees if there's anybody out there that he likes more. WM wouldn't disrespect Joker by hiring him now, then potentially going in another direction in a few months.

Make sense?

I guess. I'm scared of what WM's dream offensive philosophy is.

But I don't think WM would fire Pease or even Davis midseason, regardless of whether he wants to promote Joker or not. I think he would give Pease the chance to save face at the end of the season and then promote Joker. But if he's taking a larger and better view of what's available for OCs, I'm all for it. I think we're pretty lucky to have Joker on staff.

I'm afraid what we are doing now is what he thought would be a successful offense.

Conrhat that quote made my day.

Wonder what Muschamps new offensive philosophy is going to be?

Hopefully his new offensive philosophy includes completed forward passes, positive running plays, blocking DEs, etc.

Wait what. What do you think is his offensive philosophy now, and how do you think it could change?

Joker has always been a passing guy. I don't know why Muschamp would bring in Joker to run a run-oriented system. You promote Brian White if you want that.

What was Pease before he got to UF? Someone that runs it 70% of the time?

Someone on the 247 board posted this blast from the past thread of Pease during his Baylor days as OC/QB coach: Fire Pease Petition

There's a couple of beauties in that thread including running it up the middle ALL the time, shite OL, little adjustments during the game, going 10 quarters without a point, squandering players who've shown promise ala Taylor.

No, but he has never really been a pass happy OC. Boise fans complained that they got less aggressive and took less shots when he took over the OC job.

I just don't really get why Muschamp changing his philosophy = Joker not getting the job, because he has been a pass happy coordinator. It probably isn't going to happen because he isn't big of enough of a name, and Muschamp needs a splash hire.

kind of a CSB, which means jack shite in the grand scheme of things. Last year, I got to see BSU play and was talking to some fans/player families and asked about BP. A good portion gave kind of a lukewarm endorsement of Pease, saying, "Yeah, he's good". I didn't take it too seriously at the time, because I really thought it'd work at UF.

IMO Although I don't have insight into why Joker was brought in or what he was promised. My belief is that he was brought in to improve the WRs, which I feel that he has done. He may have been promised the OC if Pease moved on but I don't know if he is the answer to what we need. He is a great recuiter but that doesn't make you a great OC. IMO we need a new OC, with the authority to run the offense, without HC input. I personally would like an OC with a history or running a traditional vertical passing attack, multiple formations, power run game, old school. It works for Bama! If Joker is tha guy that can do this, I'm all for him. Anyone that mentions the word "wildcat" should not be considered. Go Gators

I'm smiling to myself. If I didn't know I was on another board I'd say it was FL's. That was from 8 years ago.
