Auburn is paying him out the wazoo. Why take on the grind of being a coordinator when you are getting paid millions to do nothing?

I talked with Chiz a few weeks back in Little Rock. Said he's taking the year off from coaching, spending time with his family and working the XM91 station from home.

Not interested. People will laugh, but he could make a damn strong case of being the best DC we've ever had, yes better than Erk.
But times have changed. BVG has even said himself he wouldn't be as good in today's game..the offenses are just different than what he faced. Plus he hates recruiting. He came back to college after UGA and we see how that went.

Auburn pays him a set amount per year. I can't remember the number. Whatever the new school pays him would mean Auburn would have to pay him the difference in his new salary and our dumb arse buy-out we gave him.

It's not a great time to be a DC in general unless you're up to the challenge to combat the surge in offensive philosophies and rulebooks stacked against you.
