Bama fans, need lodging help

Ok, dont kick a dog while they are down. I have a question regarding lodging for the LSU Bama game.
We are driving up I-59 Friday before the game. I am looking to stay somewhere southeast of Tuscaloosa on 59 in order to wake up early Saturday and drive into campus. The only town I am familiar with is Meridian MS. That is about 1.5 hours away. Any suggestions on a town that may be a good spot to stop off?
Help a brutha out......

After Meridian there's not any towns until Tuscaloosa.

Birmingham is only a 45-50 minute drive (if you leave early). Plenty of places to stay in the metro area.

There's not a lot between Meridian and Tuscaloosa. I mean... really not a lot. If you can find a place in Meridian I think that would work fine. The bigger "cities" on I 20 are Livingston and Eutaw. Neither probably have hotels.
Consider staying in the Birmingham area (Hoover most notably). It's only about 45 minutes from Hoover to Tuscaloosa, take I 459. The hotels and restaurants will be FAR better than anything you'd find West of Tuscaloosa

Never stayed there but the reviews aren't horrible. As others have said...there really isn't much otherwise between Meridian and Ttown.

Please don't stay in Livingston, you're already having a bad season, there's no need to punish yourself anymore.

Yeah.... I kinda want people to think highly of our state, so OP. DO NOT STAY anywhere between the MS state line and Tuscaloosa

haha! If Nasa in Huntsville or UAB in Birmingham hasn't helped change any opinions, then I doubt Livingston is going to play much part in their thought process.
Livingston is just out in the country with not much else around. Which is pretty much what you'll see looking at sat maps from Meridian all the way to Tuscaloosa.

I would drive to Starkvegas before staying there. At least they have a win over the Grinders and can feel good there.

The only other place between Tuscaloosa and Meridian would be Livingston (exit 17) and there is a hotel right off the interstate there that you could stay at. It's not a bad drive as it's only about 45min - 1 hour from Tuscaloosa. My wife works at UWA and she drives it everyday.

Livingston isn't a bad town. It's just a small town with a small Division II college there. Most people there though go to Meridian, Demopolis, or Tuscaloosa to do stuff since there is really only one bar (The Monkey) there.

Since all of the hotels in Tuscaloosa are booked a year in advance for football games youre better off staying in Hoover.

I can only echo the remarks of everyone in this thread--stay in Birmingham(Hoover) area. The hotels are much nicer, and, reasonably priced.
Also, if you do a little research on the Bar situation in BHAM, many offer gameday shuttles that start with a happy hour, roundtrip busfare, and drinking on the bus for around 50 bucks. Its worth it to avoid drinking and driving, and can be a really good time.

This sounds like a good idea but sitting in all that traffic going back to Bham after the game can be a nightmare. I guess being on a bus and not having to drive yourself would ease some of that pain but it'll still make for a long day.

Columbus MS is not a bad choice....about the same distance as Bham (a little bit further) but not anywhere near the traffic to or from.

About the only town between Meridian, and Tuscaloosa is Livingston. I know they have a couple of motels there....fairly new ones. It's a small college town. That is probably your best bet.
Failing that, you'd almost have to consider Birmingham.
