I've heard it said, when the season is over most coaches are hitting the tees. Nick Saban, nah...he's hitting the recruiting trail. A simple answer to the question I posed, Saban brings in the talent. Here is a table of the Rivals rankings for the last three years of SEC teams.
You could have used any of the recruiting services, the results would have been similar.
There are two things that can topple bama from the mountain and both rely on recruiting talent: 1.) out recruit bama year over year and/or 2.) bring in a stud that clearly out classes everyone on the field at the QB position, a la Cam Newton or FSU's Jameis Winston.

God damn 2012 class is biting us in the arse right now. Down year in LA + losing everyone off of your defense = fricking disaster.

I don't think the staff was as high on him as Keil for some reason. The usual jock sniffers can sugar coat it however they want but this staff has struggled mightily in recruiting qb's for whatever reason. Maybe the Town kid sticks and changes that.

Saban has a level of intensity and focus that most don't have. Maybe that's not the way to be in life. Maybe his family life suffers, I don't know. Maybe Les's personality makes players love him more than Saban's players. Maybe Les is the type that LSU needs (we Louisianians are quirky afterall). However, there is absolutely no question that Saban's drive and focus produce excellence.
While the scheduling posts are funny and there may be a hit of truth to them, in the end, they don't really matter. LSU does not have the drive and focus to produce excellence when needed. Afterall, Bama played Ole Miss too.

I'm pretty sure he did. FSU stole one from under Samban's nose. Winston is from Hueytown, AL.
