Fulmer inherited a strong program and won an NC. Although having a strong program for many years he did just enough to keep the Vols from winning another NC.

Les Miles seems to be fitting this mold and having Chavis is helping.

Thoughts?

He is bad. Got lucky he didn't lose to Auburn this year.

Phil Fulmer was at UT for 6 years before he won the NC.

les, phil, mack and richt are all basically the same person. if we can fatten les up he will be phil fulmer very soon. However i believe les is too stupid to get bama in trouble for recruiting dirty

Needs a lot more Krispy Kremes, but the similarities are striking.

Youre right. I was thinking he didn't start that early.

This.

If we play LSU today we beat them.

Cue the LSU fans showing up to say 'but LSU took the foot off the gas at halftime to keep the game close plan.'

No. Fulmer was only dominating in the SEC because pretty much top team in the SEC was down except for Florida and at times Bama. Les Miles won the SEC in 2007 during a time when the SEC was tough and loaded with accomplished head coaches like Meyer, Tubberville, Fulmer, Saban, Spurrier, and Richt. Miles also rarely loses to top teams by 20+ points while that was a common occurrence at UT under Fulmer even during the best of times for them.

But yeah I do see the similarities. It seems there are always going to be coaches who at times have a problem beating teams they should beat on paper 10/10 times. Tuberville was the worst at this.

In 2007 LSU didn't play South Carolina or UGA and while they did beat UF and UT, they also lost to UK and Arky. Inexcusable with the amount of talent on that roster.

Florida and Tennessee were not good teams in 2007. Sure...the Gators had Tebow but that defense was atrocious. '07 Tennessee lost to a 7-6 Alabama team by a score of 41-17.

Les Miles has always been Phil Fulmer. Lot's of similarities. Fulmer was much better for UT than a lot of fans want to admit. Miles has been better for LSU than a lot of fans want to admit. However, both had/have their glaring flaws. I see a lot of similarities in the two, both very good and very bad.

LSU with Miles recently reminds me a lot of Tennessee in the early to mid 2000's before it hit the fan (Georgia even more so). Be careful of knee jerk firing/hiring decisions LSU. In this league it can really hurt you.

its not the firing that was yalls problem it was the following up hire.

bama and uf aren't scared to replace a coach that isn't a title winner. if bama was they would still have mike shula based off his 05 year instead of replacing him one year later to bring in the greatest coach of all time.

uf would be short of two titles if they had the attitude of well if we fire zook we might be worse than now. they fired zook and brought in urban to win another two national titles.

I still think we need major staff shake ups and then if next year is another fail we fire les miles
