Smoked for 10 years. I took Chantix and never looked back. My son coming into the picture made it that much easier to quit as well. I haven't smoked since April 8, 2012.

I've quit smoking except for weekends if I go out and drink a lot or go to the casino, I have to smoke when playing blackjack..eases the nerves and makes me less suspicious of the card counting I'm doing.

Otherwise I never touch or crave a cig all week

I have a similar issue with cigars - it's when I go fly fishing. Something about being on the river and fishing makes me want that cigar.

In the last 3 years I've probably smoked >10 cigs. All while drinking at a bar or party. I smoked cigs from the time I was 15 until I was 19 or 20. Never really considered myself addicted though. In high school I could buy a pack and it would last me all week. At my peak in college 1 pack lasted 2 1/2 days probably, although I could chain smoke like a mofo on a road trip or at a party.

Never once dipped or had any desire to in my whole life. That shite is nasty.

Because the thread title says "drug/ addiction" I will tell you that I was addicted to opiates (high-grade painkillers, specifically.) I quit that and have been successfully clean for over 3 months.

You have any crazy side effects with chantix? I was hoping to try it out at the start of the year, but some of the side effects are a turn off.

I'm scared of chantix. My cousin - who is generally a happy person - got so depressed he couldn't get out of bed. And depression runs in my family. frick that.

Is there any indication for chantix in smokeless tobacco users?

Yeah I've been wanting to try it too but that "depression, thoughts of suicide" line hangs me up...

I quit drinking a year ago, now I'll maybe have one beer a month when I go hang out with friends.

I quit dipping in July, still smoke though
