We're a Jacob Coker away from the unquestioned favorite to win it all next year.

We've seen Jameis Winston, and Coker was competing neck and neck with him for a while to get the job. Big guy, big arm. Can move a bit. I wouldn't name him the favorite to come in and immediately start, but he'll be in contention if he earns Saban's trust and protects the football.

Because its him, a guy who can't throw it past 15 yards, a living statue, a redshirt freshman, a redshirt freshman walk-on, and a true freshman with a blown out knee for our QB competition next year.

And Phillip Sims was neck and neck with AJ in 2011...Not saying that Coker isnt good, but it seems like there are a lot of Bama fans that are ready to put our eggs in the Coker basket.

Who cant throw it past 15 yards? I am not ready to completely give up on all of our QBs yet, especially when we havent seen any of them get meaningful playing time yet.

Yeah, I think LDR and Bateman will have a chance next year, obviously Sims is going to have the opportunity to win the job, but Coker will be in the competition. I think Morris is gone and McLeod should be.

Sims looks very uncomfortable throwing the ball even on simple short passes and its even worse on intermediate/deep routes. Great wildcat/Zone read guy but his best pass is the Bubble Screen.

I am for a couple of reasons. I think he is better at this point than any one we have. I also like how it sets up the future. Two years of Coker and then a competition of Cornwell, Town, and whoever doesn't transfer when Coker comes in.

I wish Town was a 14 kid

Based on what, though? I am not saying that you are wrong, I just havent seen him play, or have heard about any of his success.

So you are just completely dismissing any chance of the other three guys ever doing anything at all?

He has actual game experience and has a better arm than Sims. The fact we haven't played Morris at all is telling to me.

Similar to Sims with a better arm. And I like BBQBs.

Saban will never play the better QB, he'll play the guy who protects the football, and doesn't get greedy by flinging it anywhere. I think that is why Morris isn't playing, he has a big arm and tries to use it, Saban wants smart play out of his QB. Gotta know the offense, gotta be able to read the D after the trusts you so you can put the offense into the best play.

LINK

His limited action would tell you he can throw the ball downfield when allowed to, and that he can make plays with his feet when needed.

here are their numbers just for comparison:

Sims
2013 16/21 154 yards 2 TDs

2012 5/10 77 yards 0 TDs

Coker
2013 10/19 163 yards 0 TDs

2012 3/5 45 yards 1 TD

and I have a hard time believing that Coker is more mobile than Sims.
