Not talking about its 2013 season.
It has the best undergraduate journalism program in the nation. The grad school ain't bad either, ranking with Columbia and Northwestern.
This doesn't sound like much at first glance. But what if a high school kid isn't likely to play in the NFL and a recruiter tells him we can get you qualified to cover it.
The friggin Journalism Department newspaper covers both the Cardinals and Rams in football, as well as all the university's sports.
Its corresponding photography department is just as good.
The rest of the school's programs are nearly as good. One can even learn to write scripts there.
As far as the SEC is concerned, it should own the fertile territories of St. Louis, Kansas City and Chicago, as well as the smaller towns in between.
I wish the Golden Tigers had been placed in the West, and the SEC had added, say, UNC and UVA in the East. Let North Carolina continue to play Duke to its heart's content.
It's just a matter of time and the right coach before Missouri will be a premier sports school.
Just my opinion.

Wut?
How many of their football players actually attend the journalism school and major in journalism?

If they can beat UF with a back-up QB, I'll fall in line.

Ag School is where it's at.

You aren't paying attention then. Sociology, Parks and Rec and basket weaving are where it's at for most SEC athletes.
Don't even get me started on schools lowering their standards to let these kids into college just to play sports.

Smart kid football ain't gonna cut it. Thanks for the praise. We are proud of the journalism program. But let's keep the J-school and football recruiting separate.

Don't think there is a question it has the best Journalism program probably in the country. Hell I even wanted to apply there, but didn't have the money to go to school out of state. Unfortunately that does not equate to winning on the football field.

Have no idea, but I expect an increase. And there is nothing wrong with that. Florida's "J" school is excellent and very hard to get into. But it is nothing to compare with Missouri's.

This is a strange theory. Marginal high school athletes aspiring to be journalists are admirable and all, but those kids aren't going to do shite to make your football team competitive in the SEC. You need athletic freaks who think they are going to the league (even if in reality they aren't) and those guys likely couldn't care less about journalism.

Oh, you think football players that can barely get into college are going to be enrolled in one of the most prestigious programs for Journalism in the country...makes sense.

Every (well okay, most) SEC schools can point to something they are the best at.
USC has the #1 international business program in the country AND the #1 public honors college in the country. Also a top 5 HRTM undergrad program. Doesn't mean we're winning games because of it.

If you don't think what a school can offer a prospect, then you have overdosed on corndogs and crawl fish.
While we are at it, I almost went to LSU's grad school in history. Best in the South, thanks to Ol' Huey.

It could with a critical player, who also has a brain.

Thanks for the kudos...We Mizzou folks are pretty proud of our Institution in COMO!
NC's have definitely eluded us.. But a well rounded, quality university helps to sustain us.
BTW ....our volleyball team (#18 in nation) is undefeated this year and soon to face off with #2 Florida's undefeated team.
