Taking a trip there for a few days this Fall. Things I should do? Place I should stay? Places to eat?

I'm going to the game on March 4, and maybe on December 30.

hmmm... Never a big hockey fan. I always had a good time when I've been to a live game though, although that's been prob 15 year since that's happened.

Demonbreun Street bars, division st bars, country music HOF, brand new convention center is awesome. Broadway obviously. Try to eat at the bluebird Cafe. Preds game.
Go eat at the Gulch (Sambuca or Cantina laredo) but it's pricey.
Ride the General Jackson but it's like 60 bucks but you get dinner and a show apparently.

Best sport to see live. You can also get some tickets for a decent price. It'll only last a little less than 3 hours.

There's a Hilton right downtown. And a doubletree

I stayed at the Holiday Inn downtown last time I was there. Was nice by Holiday Inn standards.

Forgot about that one.
It's nice.

Hot chicken.
Your taste buds will thank me. Your a-hole will hate me.

Stay at the Hutton or Union Station. There's a pretty good bar behind Union Station, flying saucer I think is the name. Broadway bars are cheesy as frick.

Beat me to it.
Blackstone's is also very good (while still moderately affordable). They brew their own beer (excellently) and the food is good.
You want a local neat place "Germantown Cafe" is very good (not cheap but not really high). Really nice while still somewhat casual.
I fricking hate hockey, but have never had a bad time at a Preds game.

Stay away from lower Broadway. It's touristy and lame. Try midtown or east Nashville depending on your age/speed. Preds games are always a safe bet. There is always plenty of good music in town, not just country.

Idk if OP is into dive bars, but Santas pub and Twin Kegs are great places.
Santas is cash only though
also, someone mentioned flying saucer and I'm mad at myself for letting that slip my mind
easily top 5 place in Nashville imo

Nashville is a cool city and has pretty much anything anyone could want to keep them entertained.
Country Music HoF is cool. I honestly think that the old location up on Music Row had more objects on display, but they are about to enlarge the new place so hopefully that is changing.
If there is a show at the Ryman (especially traditional country/bluegrass), go check that out. Hard to beat seeing that music played live in the mother church of country music. If you like country music, check out Tootsies or some of the other bars along Broadway. You may catch the next superstar before he or she is discovered.
A few things I haven't seen mentioned yet:
Breakfast at the Loveless Café.
The Parthenon is a replica of the original in Athens. Underneath is a nice art museum, but then then upstairs with the replica of the Athena statute and the Elgin marbles is really nice.
If you are into history, Stones River National Battlefied Park is a short drive away over in Murfreesboro. One of the lesser known battles of the WBTS, but a very nice park.
