Ole Miss fans I was told yesterday that the traffic/parking situation is pretty bad this year in Oxford. Is this accurate? Trying to get an idea of best options for Saturday

But everything else is the same? The person that told me was just saying traffic was a nightmare. It wasn't that bad last time I went

I hope LSU brings the exact number of fans we do or more just so it COMPLETELY fricks up traffic so bad that the university is forced to let people back on campus. Bring everyone LSU.

It was terrible last weekend. We spent 2 and a half hours in gridlock trying to get out of oxford. I blame some of that on outoftowner bad luck and lack of knowledge of best places to park etc.

You know it's bad when the university has to release this LINK

As part of our on-going commitment to transparency and communication, it was important we reached out to you today. We acknowledge the post-game traffic delays and apologize for the inconvenience that many fans experienced Saturday night. We strive to have the best gameday experience in sports, and we let you, our customers, down on an important part of the experience.
The first step in fixing the issue is to diagnose the cause. We overcorrected a problem after the SEMO game resulting in Old Taylor Road and Hill Drive being reduced to one lane exiting campus. From here forward, we will use all possible lanes for exiting traffic.
To accommodate fans using shuttles, near the end of the game, we will stage all possible shuttles at their appropriate, clearly marked locations to transport fans to off-campus lots as efficiently as possible. Please note the time between the first wave of shuttles and subsequent waves will be dependent on how quickly the shuttles can arrive back on campus using dedicated shuttle lanes on Gertrude Ford Parkway.
We thank the Ole Miss family for their continued support of Rebel football as we strive to deliver the best gameday experience. We are committed to open communication, and your feedback is vital. Please continue to use rebs.ms/VHSFeedback to let us know about your experience. We will publish additional details about lines at gates, concessions and other relevant gameday items later this week.

So where are the best places to park?
Posted on 10/15/13 at 11:20 am to The_Joker
You can park at the mall

So can we buy a pass or is it only for ticket holders? And is the shuttle thing a feasible option?

Yeah, I walked 3.3 miles back to my apartment from the stadium and almost definitely got there faster than if I had tried to drive. There were cops directing traffic all the way up at the N. Lamar and Molly Barr intersection.

No you can't buy one

Yeah but it'd be easier to park at the mall and walk than wait for the shuttle. They're slow as shite

I assumed most Ole Miss alumni came in by helicopter.

Fuel is getting hella expensive yo

You most certainly cannot. There are only 6000 on campus passes. Most season ticket holders didn't even get one. Supposedly, this new policy is in response to an ADA lawsuit that basically makes it impossible for us to allow the creative crowd-driven parking solutions that we, and every other fricking university in the country, had grown used to. I don't know that I buy it, but that is the reason we were given.
At any rate, for some reason, parking/traffic is a clusterfrick and is likely to remain so.

When I got back to my car after the A&M game, we basically just took a two hour nap because the traffic was not even moving out of our parking lot. It is a lot worse this year than it has been in the past.

Does the Chamber of Commerce lot fill up to capacity? I don't mind paying - the Ole Miss wife is 6 months pregnant so walking from the mall ain't happening.

It's an easy walk if you want to park at the mall/malco parking lot on Jackson ave. it's free, but you'll need to get there around noon to get a spot.
