Ok, so most of us knew this season would suck. We also knew this would a rough stretch in the SEC. Now that we are in it, what do you think?

Here are some ideas being brown around:

Positive:

AC3
HH
D. Wise
D. Philon
Other younglings
Improved ground game
Improved D
Improved OLine

And here improvements do not reflect the scores for some reason.

Negative:

BA is terrible
WRs cannot catch
DBS can't cover
Erratic play calling
Consistent coach speak
In-season decline in some positives listed above

Looking Ahead:

I just don't know. We can look to Petrino in 2008 for some guidance. We can also look at our past recruiting busts as hope this is only temporary. Freeze and Malzahn are doing ok but playing less freshmen and non-busted recruiting classes. Can anyone tell me exactly what is going on what I need to look forward to? I'm just a bit confused and depressed, even though I knew this was coming. Yeah, I got nothing.

Your running game is solidly improving. Your receivers can't catch. But that can change. And it's the first year for your HC. This is probably as bad as it will be for Arkansas fans.

Honestly, it is going to be a quick fix (for most fans), outside of a freak in state recruiting year like 08.

Too many positions lack depth, some of our starters at positions would be depth for other schools.

The first red-flag for this could have been seen with the amount of walk-ons awarded schollys this year, an SEC team who is on a firm foundation should not have regular schollys to award to walk-ons, only a few rare exceptions where you get a guy to walk-on who fell through the cracks in the recruiting process.

I think about how much improved the O-line is this year and can't help but think that would not have occurred if not for this staff's recruiting and coaching. Our only running back would be Jwill if not for their recruiting as well.

Its is going to take a couple classes to get the roster straightened out to build depth at all positions, get the program on a sound foundation and start building for obtainable sustained success in the future.

Sucks, but its just the way it is, maybe we will luck out and get an elite instate class, if not the staff has a much narrower margin for error in this year's and next's recruiting classes, almost everyone recruited has to be a player in the year's moving ahead.

Well his claim to fame is being able to recruit from out of state. Talking with your fans, if you have to recruit solely in state, you are in a world of trouble. Thankfully, he can pull them from everywhere. You have the facilities to attract big level recruits. You just have to do it. I mean damn, Ole Miss did it

Seriously - can you imagine what it would have been like if we didn't land AC3?

I honestly expected growing pains, and believed 6-6 was realistic. I also thought 2 years and we would heal. This is like the housing bubble. Will home prices ever rebound?

I don't know what to think anymore.

I feel as if recruiting is greatly improving from where it has been.

It is easier to turn things around when you have an instate class with the caliber of players the 08 class was, moderate effort has to be given to most instate guys to get them to commit, with this staff that would mean greater effort can be given to out of state guys to compliment them, that would give the class to get things rolling.

Freeze had the luxury of playmakers left to him at RB and WR as well as a much better defensive back seven than our staff has to work with.

I was pretty depressed over the weekend but I think this year is just going to be terrible, like we thought....get over it and hope we heal in a year or 2.

Also, look at Auburns schedule compared to ours. We've played 3 top 15 teams already.

I can fully expect AU to beat us but if they smoke us, I may have a hard time dealing with that. I may go to Fayetteville and piss on Bielema's dog.

Good:
our young guys appear to be talented, our defense has improved, we can run the ball

Bad: we have no depth, no playmaker at WR, a qb who keeps throwing picks, we're slow at LB, No one taught our DBs how to actually cover a pass til this staff showed up so they have bad habits, we're going to need to rebuild some next year as well

Looking to the future:
This staff needs to recruit well or we're fricked. And not just highly rated recruiting, setting up a properly position weighted depth chart would help even if the talent isn't all elite. We do need an elite piece for defense on in the secondary and at LB still. Philon is going to make the DL good.

People got paid. Blee dat. Nobody in the bottom run of the SEC comes up with a #1 recruiting class in one year.

Philon is going to be an elite player if he continues to improve.

""I do feel badly for Arkansas," Spurrier said after the game. "It's no fun getting your butt beat like this at home, homecoming and all that. They're probably not as strong a team as they were when they were kicking our tails the last three times I've been in here. But Bret (Bielema) and his guys, they need to recruit their way out of it, and it's going to take a little time as we all know.""

Spurrier is a douche most of the time, but his assessment of the team is its a talent problem, the only people I've seen say it is not is the the people still pissed Petrino got himself fired and the Gus people who for whatever reason do not realize Auburn has 4-5 recruiting classes on campus for his system, yet still no solid option at QB...

Be prepared to hear bitching about recruiting rankings, as they will again matter for Bert like with Nutt after being dismissed with Petrino. It will be "yeah its top25, but only 8th in the SEC" shite like that, same with "can't win on the road" with Mike as it was with Heath.

The complaints and bitching playbook by a portion of our fan base to go after coaches they don't like is irritating at best.

Remember how "we are having to play so many Freshmen" made it OK to be blown out by Texas, Bama, and Florida three games in a row in 08?
