Well, the bye week certainly came at a good time as we really need to re-group and get our act together post-Mizzou. The rest of the season looks like this:

Nov. 23, 2013 at Tennessee

Nov. 30, 2013 Wake Forest

Thoughts to follow...

Dawgs are pretty beat-up and have a tough game against Mizzou this week. Unfortunately, they are also a lot deeper and more talented than we are. Short of Murray going down too, I don't see us having more than about a 15% chance of winning this and that is probably on the high side.

Prediction: UGA 35 VU 17

Hey man. I need an email for you and Open Dore (just in case he peeks in here). Would you post it here when you get a chance? It can be one you create just for SECR correspondence.

I think Florida is our shot in the next three games. We have a decent shot of going 3-0 in the final stretch to make it to a bowl game, but I don't want us to be going into Knoxville with only four wins. The Vols would love to kill our bowl chances.

Agreed on the Vols and on the next three, but we'd better learn how to stop a running quarterback before we play the Gators to have a shot. And I don't like our chances against their D.

I'm not as convinced. We have serious holes this year in our front 7 and our OL. We've taken multiple steps backwards in those areas and until I see substantial improvement, I see 2 wins at best the rest of the way.

Wow, how the landscape can change quickly. Vandy has a chance in this if we can get some stops and avoid turnovers. Need good games from Seymour, Tate, and Robinette. A&M can sure put up a lot of points, but may be without Manziel. Given our poor track record with running QBs, it may not matter which one plays as either can give us fits. Bet the over!

A&M 49
Vandy 45

Texas A&M was actually my preseason upset for Vanderbilt because they did not have a defense and Vandy could score. Not happy with the off season crap and not as sure about a Dore upset but still this may not be the pencil win the TAMU folks have been thinking since the schedules came out.

This.

If the D steps up and has a great game I believe this one is ripe for another upset. But if Vandy can't stop Bo Wallace from running, how do they stop Manziel? Agree with the over. Should be a fun one to watch!

Well, that was ugly. Not entirely sure whether the aTm D was better than advertised or Robinette just wasn't ready for primetime. Probably a bit of both, plus their DCs pressure-filled game plan was the right call as Patton never really looked comfortable. Good time for another bye week!

If Vandy's defense plays well, creating turnovers and minimizing the running of the Florida QB, then they have a shot. But only if Vandy's offense can run the ball effectively and avoid their own turnovers. I have severe misgivings about this game due to Florida's home field advantage, quality defense, and running QB. Also Patton Robinette, who needs to grow up in a hurry.

Prediction: Gata 24 Dores 17

I'm not sure the game will even reach that level of scoring. UF's offense is truly putrid, running QB or no. (Franklin actually did a good job of containing Manziel's scrambles. I think only one of them went for significant yardage.)

I think the defense can create the turnovers. The problem is actually converting those turnovers into points eventually.

You may be right. I'm counting on both defenses scoring at least once to get to those levels.

Welcome to the Vandy board!

Looks like I was wrong, and happily so (well, not about the offense, just the scoring.) The defense did a helluva job forcing and converting those turnovers.

Glad to be here!

Our offense had very short fields with the interception returns. If you count the 86 yards of returns, the yardage doesn't seem that bad. I like how PR bounced back from A&M.

Don't forget the penalty yardage too. It was significant! PR looked better today, but I still don't trust him much, especially in our end of the field. Still, what a great day!

Hell, if Bama can take credit for the way they beat Virginia Tech, we can certainly take credit for the way we beat UF.

The problem with living in Michigan is that I can run about shouting "UGA and UF both in the same season!" all day long and nobody will have the faintest idea what that means and why it's awesome.

I thought I'd just leave this here.

ETA: will we finally get to .500 against another SEC team?
