Who will be the first to get fired Gonzales or Smith?

It may not happen this year, but I have got my money on Smith, and that is not necessarily an endorsement of Gonzales. Also before every one piles on let me say that I support Mike Smith and believe we can somewhat salvage this season. However, I still feel that his seat is the hottest because of the win now or GTFO nature of being a HC in the NFL.

The Braves have to be one of the most complacent franchises in professional sports and just have developed a "meh frick it" attitude when it comes to the post season. I understand that we have a smaller payroll, but that does not mean we should have smaller expectations, hell look at what Maddon has done in Tampa.

I am in no way trying to blame last nights performances solely on either coach, but ultimately they will be the ones held accountable for the team's success, or lack thereof at the end of the season.

Depends how long both franchises take to consider their options.

Gonzales hasn't been around long with the Braves but they had a great year. Smith has been around longer with the Falcons and they went from having a Super Bowl team (well, almost) to getting beat by the backup to Mark Sanchez (granted, Geno Smith is better than Sanchez, IMO).

If we are talking about hot seats, I'd have to think that Smith's seat is much hotter than Gonzales'.

I agree and it sucks because I actually like Mike Smith and think that Gonzales has had more than his fair share of opportunities.

2011- Epic Sepetember collapse (9-17) that resulted in us missing the post season. Ended the season on a 5 game losing streak. Thank God for the Redsox and their simultaneous choke job or we would be in the record books for this one

2012- Bounced in the play in game

2013- Pathetic performances and we really only "competed" in two of the games.

If the Falcons don't make the playoffs this season, Smith will need to rub some butter on his backside from how hot his seat will be.

I can't fault Freddi. They won 96 games after losing a lot of pitchers and getting shite production from Uggs and BJ.

What would you have done different vs the Dodgers?
Jesus,I don't think McCann had 1 hit and Upton had
how many? 2? Heyward?

Medlen stunk up the joint along with Teheran.
And we were 1 pitch away fram taking em to a 5th
game.

Not sure what any mgr could have done given
the pathetic performance of our guys on the field.

Granted Mike Smith has had an issue or two with play calling, but be reminded. Our offense is top 5 in getting to the redzone. Our offensive line is a joke this year, and our defense looks like German shizer. I think Smith and Matt have done a great job, so in their defense, I look to Dimitroff. Trufant SUCKS! Alford is blossoming into a pretty good DB. But over all, we just do not have the personal on the O-LINE and defense to combat high powered, and physical offenses. Never thought we could give up 30 to the Jets. And regarding Freddie, please be reminded we just don't have the luck of the Irish. Even when Bobby was here, I can't count on all my fingers and toes how many times we made it to the playoffs and never got out of the first round. But as a hometown fan all around, it hurts, and it's easy to make a cry for desperation. But likewise, with Mike Smith, remember, they were calling for Coughlin to go to the guillotine. Came right behind that and won 2 Super Bowls. I think if anything, we should be urging Dimitroff to get us the right personnel on defense and the O-line. We need to lose out the rest of the season, draft Clowney #1 overall . THEN, go grab CJ Mosley with another later first round pick if we have one. We definitely need to trade/cut Decoud's arse and try to get a quality safety in either through trade or free agency. And the rest of the draft, I'm drafting top tier O-lineman and making trades to bring in other big uglies through the market or trades. Nicholas is expendable. Asante Samuel, also expendable. We can definitely get a good pickup on a Harry Douglas trade.

Like I said in the OP I am not solely placing the blame on Fredi at all. However, getting outscored 26-14 is a pretty shitty way to go out no matter how you slice it. Again, I don't think he will be fired by any means, he has a much longer leash than that.

Gonzalez is the Mark Richt of Braves baseball. Not good enough to win it all, but serviceable enough to win the division and a playoff game (maybe even two!)

I'm not the biggest fan of Fredi but there's only
so much he coulda done in this latest series.
(maybe bringing Kimbrell in the 8th last night)

Like I said,our guys stunk it up.Our #1 and #2
pitchers blew plus we pretty much got
nothing from J Upton,Mccann and Heyward
and only hit 1 HR. Dodgers were the far
superior team IMO

Unpopular opinion time....in baseball it doesn't matter how well or not a manager knows a game. If his team can't hit or pitch in postseason, it's on the players and not the manager. Think Bobby Cox wins the Dodgers series when Upton, McCann, Heyward, etc... suddenly forget how to hit? Do BJ and Uggla hit .280 instead of .180? No, and it's on them, not Fredi.
