So are you saying that Mizzou has a better chance at taking down the Dawgs than Oz suggested?

It did kind of sound that way.

I hear Mizzou has produced a great deal of newsprint over the years. Maybe they can role some of it up and use it to beat back the fighting UGA's.

You think we need newspaper to spank puppies? Nah.

I think the key for us is to force turnovers on the defense and the more we do this the better chance we have to win.

Yes - put the pressure on Murray, and force a couple of TOs. And, protect Franklin - give him time to make smart throws, or set up good running plays.

It really does come down to turnovers and penalties so often. Probably the same again this weekend. Win those 2 things and we'll probably be in the game.

I was thinking about the impact the Georgia injuries would have on this game with the thought that it is easier to replace WR's than OLinemen. What if Mizzou lost DGB, Lucas and Washington? While maybe not quite as solid, I think Copelin, Clark and White could do decent. The bigger drop off I suppose would be with who fills in behind them on the 2 deep. Losing Josey and Hansbrough? Got Murphy, Steward and White? I think the injuries will have an impact, I just don't think it will be as big of an impact as if they lost their QB or half their OLine.

Agreed, the line and QB are the heart and soul of an offense. Having 6 receivers and 2 running backs out still sucks though
I just wonder who is catching passes for our Scout team this week

I saw on twitter this morning that only 10 wr practiced for Georgia yesterday. Of those 10, 5 were walk-ins. They're thin.

Yeah, I just found out how many of them are walkons. That's brutal.

Americus...I thought it was 3 WR's out. Were there others who have been out the whole season and it's just 3 more that recently went down?

"There are no excuses that will be made. No one in here is getting a pass on anything. You still have to be prepared to play a great football game against a good team on Saturday." -Chris Conley (Jr WR)

Damn man. Didn't know there was more on top of the recent rash of injuries. I will say though, Conley looks to be really solid.

He is a good receiver, but his character is what makes him special.

Yeah, that's awful. Like our OL last season. Hope you can get some of them back soon, Americus.

With all the hype last year about "Old man football", I had no clue about the O-line injuries y'all had. I knew the QB was banged up. It's just part of the game. I am excited that (more) freshman will play, and guys that work hard will get a chance to contribute. Not having Gurley is the biggest loss.

Yeah, we'd lost 4 OL starters before the season even started if I remember right. Last season, 7 of the 10 in the 2-deep missed multiple games due to injuries. It was brutal. Add the QB situation, and I think anyone would have struggled to have a good season.

Gurley is a special athlete. You'll get him back soon. And it's never a bad thing to let your young players get practice. That's the silver lining. If you can get through this tough stretch, you'll be very battle-tested.

Bad news for Mizzou...

Today the radio played a clip of Aaron Murray which I will paraphrase..

"After the Tenn game, we got home, I couldn't sleep at all. I was still wired. Finally I just jumped out of bed and went down to the athletic building and just started watching film for the next game"

Something else of note about Murray.... same radio program in ATL today.... a quote that I will paraphrase:

Apparently he was asked how he thought the new faces on receiving squad would do..

"I know all the plays, the routes, even for the running backs, the blocking assignments for everyone, so if a guy has a question he can just ask and I can tell him. That's what's good about running our no-huddle, we get set quickly, so if a guy is out of position or has a question based on how the defense lines up, we can fix it."

Basically, having Murray out there is like have Mark Richt out there.

That's an intangible quality that hopefully won't make these injuries as damaging as they could be.

If Murray can take this team on his shoulders like hes done 2 times this year and carry us through the season, I don't see how he can't be a serious contender for Heisman.

It starts this weekend.

Yeah, Franklin is pretty much the same way. Having an experienced QB is nice, isn't it? And we'll both have new ones next year.

I'm hoping for a good, exciting game.

Fortunately for us, Murray's backup will be a 5th year senior next year... has a couple of TD passes already under his belt, but hasn't had a whole lot of playing time just due to Murray starting every game for 4 years. He's had mop-up duty.

But, the experience is valuable... he wears the headphones on the sideline and is the conduit between our offensive coordinator and Murray, knows the offense like the back of his hand. Whether he can perform or not, week after week, in the actual position, will be another story. Plus, UGA has quite a few highly rated young bucks also in the wings that could beat him out for the job.

I like Murray. A ton. You have got to have the guys around him to make plays though at some point or it will eventually catch up with you. He may very well carry y'all single handedly through the next 2 weeks. Of course, I'm hoping playing walkons and freshmen and guys who just haven't been getting reps all season plays to Mizzou's advantage.

Has there been any more info on Gurley? I haven't heard anything in a couple days about his status for Saturday.
