Once again it's the DM putting out a story that is half fictional just so they can get some publicity. Much like the so called "riots" they reported on. The DM is garbage and I'd be okay with scrapping that garbage of a paper altogether. Only thing working for them are the puzzles in it.

Between this and the damn riot tweets the DM is our worst enemy.

Journalism 101 nowadays. Our student paper in Tuscaloosa is pretty miserable as well.

The damage was done by the initial false report.
When folks have an agenda, they see what they want to see--regardless of what the facts support.

I have done this a couple times to the Ark student paper. They actually put it in once.

It was the fricking editor-in-chief that put it in there. I worked there for a year and the second editor that I had twisted one of my quotes in my story that wasn't even a big deal in my copy into something that made my source sound like she was insinuating something. The source called me and chewed my arse out for my editor's mistake. When I called him pissed off, he said he edited it then passed it on to the person above him and said they must have done it.
They don't double check their facts and they try to spin shite ALL THE TIME. And the woman that works in the athletic department that said she texted Freeze when it was happening, asked the DM to not put her name in the article. They did anyway and she might get fired over it.
Plus, their cornerstone source of the story wasn't even at the damn play.
That is the piece of shite "journalism" the DM is.
