Iowa State should have blitzed every down on the last drive against Texas.

There's a clear difference between a prevent defense, and a bend but don't break defense.

Iowa st wasn't in a prevent defense, and neither was LSU against Alabama, Clemson, or Georgia.

Chavis runs a perfect prevent defense.

Last time I saw LSU run a prevent defense was against Auburn last year.

Turned out we got an INT out of it.

ISU had seven DBs on the last drive last night. That is a prevent defense

The only thing the prevent defense prevents is field goals

No shite.

I hate prevent defense.

If you D works for 58 minutes, it will work for the last 2.

Paul Rhodes made three poor coach calls at the end of the game and THAT is why they lost, not the refs.

He played prevent D...he should have let them score with 90 seconds to play...he should have told his QB to spike the ball on 3rd.

Bill Oliver was a solid DC but he used to be bad about using the prevent at times. And don't get me started on Joe Kines and his love for it. Nothing wrong with keeping the ball in front of you but a prevent is a killer.

lol what? Were they 40+ yards downfield preventing a deep ball? No.

They were sending out their cover guys to stop an obvious passing drive. That's not a prevent defense, that's a dime defense.

No, idiot ranters like to use the term. LSU played bend but don't break. We ran a zone at the worst time possible, and the screen went to the house. It was a great call on Alabama's part.

Did they have defensive backs 40-50 yards downfield?

The number of DBS on the field has nothing to do with a defense being in Prevent.

I guess LSU's mustang package when we have 6 DB's, 1 LB on the field and 4 down linemen is a prevent defense

"against Texas" or "by Texas?"

Because, how would ISU blitz itself? You see, yes, ISU did have the "last drive against Texas."

Prevent defense is an American football defensive alignment that uses seven or more defensive backs or players in a defensive back role
