GAINESVILLE — Gators defensive star Dominique Easley is headed to the NFL, passing on a chance to play one more season at Florida.

UF coach Will Muschamp said Monday Easley is definitely NFL-bound, formally ruling out a return to the Gators' lineup.

Easley, the Gators' starting tackle and best player, injured his right knee during non-contact drills during practice last week. The day after the injury before doctors confirmed he had torn his ACL and medial meniscus, requiring season-ending surgery, Easley seemed resigned to the idea he was done playing football in Gainesville.

He posted on this Twitter account, "Gatornation thank you for all of 4 yrs of sticking with me but god has something else planned for and have no worries #believe."

Really not surprised, and can't blame him.

Pretty classy of him to make the call now as well so the Gators aren't depending on his rehab and return.

I hope he gets drafted by Jax so he's stuck in a small southern town again.

Not sure I would call Jacksonville "southern". I mean it's geographically in a state that's at the bottom of the country, but it's damn sure not southern.
