What is it that makes your face itch when you don't shave?

My head doesn't itch after a short haircut. My armpits don't itch if I don't shave them for a couple weeks. What's so special about the face?

In my experiences it only itches for a day or two. Once it gets some length there isn't any itching.

Why would you shave your armpits?

I don't like the way my armpits feel when they're hairy. The hair pulls and it honestly looks a little trashy.

I too have the shitty beard genetics. It has improved over the last year though. I still have a few patchy spots, but I've noticed a few spots that were patchy last time I grew it out, that are no longer patchy.

Currently just shy of 2 weeks, and I've got a solid 1/4" of fairly thick hair around my neck, sideburns, and chin. There is hair towards the front of my cheeks, but it is kind of patchy and does not currently blend seemlessly into the rest of my facial hair.

I'm just giving no fricks and letting it grow right now.

That's what I'm doing.

Normally I sport a goatee, but had mishap (batteries died; new batteries didn't work; loose contact somewhere and vigorous shaking was required to finally get it to run; length guide was adjusted accidentally during vigorous shaking) with the beard trimmer 2 weekends ago and accidentally trimmed it on the lowest setting. So I shaved it all off and decided to just let it grow for a month or two and see what happens.

I can actually grow a decent beard, for a guy with blonde hair.
