"We are making calls to prospective members to gauge their interest," Hancock said during the conference commissioners' meeting at Big Ten headquarters. "And those are going very well. We have invited some people to participate. The response has been remarkable. A hundred percent has been excited to get the call, honored to get the call and wants to give something back to the game."

Several prospective candidates have declined because of conflicts, and not a lack of desire to serve. The committee members will be either sitting major conference athletic directors or former players, coaches, administrators or media members.

Basketball uses the RPI, which is spit out by a computer.

I nominate Gene Stallings though.

No kidding. It's bad when the people being asked are declining because of a conflict of interest. Are they that stupid not to vet out potential conflicting issues before inviting them?

The RPI is just something the committee references. Humans pick the teams.

I like the computers because the formula is set. There is no human bias.

jmo but eventually the system will turn into a top 16 style playoff because ppl will be raising hell that there team didn't make top 4 or 8...even now college basketball teams raise hell cause they didnt make the top 64. granted, i think that is way to many teams for a football playoff but i expect to see 16 teams at some point

System should have stayed the same and just taken the top 4

Totally agree. There's nothing wrong with the BCS rankings IMO.

Still don't understand why they just didn't make it simple and keep the current BCS standings and just take the top4.

I NEVER asked for it. I'd assume we just go back to the old days, but you can thank ESPN for projecting this ideology that the BCS was broken.
