Better defensive line?

Florida has the top DT in the nation in Easley.

USCe has the top DE in the nation in Clowney.

Who's supporting cast is better? Just wondering, had the debate with a friend who went to USCe. I think it's pretty close.

Florida has the better defensive line IMO, and it is close. South Carolina has the better team, and it is not that close IMO

Fowler has been much more impressive than Clowney this year. If you're going with the level of play and not talent level you have to say Florida has been better.

Easley has been more impressive than Clowney so far this season but not in his career, don't know about Fowler there. Clowney gets doubled a lot so that will hurt his stats, Fowler doesn't. Easley does though.

Based on what? USC has 10 sacks, Florida has 4. USC has 28 TFL, Florida has 19.

Fowler doesn't have Clowney's talent but has been extremely impressive.

UF's defensive line is insanely good. Much better than USCe's.

The sack stats are misleading.

UF has a way better TOP.
Way better on third down - Florida 18.62% - USCe 34.78%
Way better at three and outs
Florida's offense leads the nation in TOP at almost 40 minutes a game. While USCe defense has seen the field almost 9 more minutes a game than Florida.

The stats don't tell all, the fact that UF doesn't allow drives to continue and they milk the clock is the reason the sacks aren't even. The sacks are 7 for USCe Dline, 4 for Florida's dline(other 3 are other members of the USCe team). Add in Hurries which UF has more of despite the fact that they've seen significantly less time on the field.

This is the complete opposite of what your fellow Gator fan is arguing. Makes me laugh.

No it's not. Try using some deductive reasoning.

If Florida's D has to play less plays, that leads to less opportunities for sacks, correct?

I'm saying your sack stats are misleading.

And the stats never tell all. You have to actually look into the stats to find the truth. Florida leads the nation in time of possession, we must be really good at holding on to the ball based just on that stat alone...right? :P

eta: Again this goes back to who each has played. In the first two games we've played some of the best statistical QBs in the NCAA, one on the road. UF has played who? The 3rd best team in Ohio, a UT team that is using its 3rd string QB at home, and lost in its only road game to a decent Miami team.
