Empty F-16 jet tested by Boeing and US Air
Force

Boeing has revealed that it has retrofitted retired fighter jets to turn them into drones. It said that one of the Lockheed Martin F-16 made a first flight with an empty cockpit last week.

Two US Air Force pilots controlled the plane from the ground as it flew from a Florida base to the Gulf of Mexico. Boeing suggested that the innovation could ultimately be used to help train pilots, providing an adversary they could practise firing on.

How long until we don't have pilots inside jets?

Is this a weird British spelling or are the writer and editor just blind/retarded?

a family member works with the satellites that send the GPS to the drones. Very interesting to hear him talk about.

Congrats, you just got trolled by the BBC.

That's a target drone. Every single fighter model produced in significant numbers since WWII has provided it's final measure of service as unmanned targets being blown to bits over the ocean. The most recent was the F-4 Phantoms but with them almost gone they're moving to early generation F-16s.

Yep. We basically are out of the F-4 business. Now we're starting to shoot down F-16s. This is nothing new (other than it being an F-16)

It's gonna be like that movie Toys where kids think they're playing video games, but they're actually controlling drones and killing people.
