I also believe I saw a stat where Ole Miss was 10-2 against the spread last year if I'm not mistaken.

No idea. Was on a few different sites yesterday and they all had the same type of spread. Had Hogs beaten Rutgers I could see this type of spread.
With a starting QB out and the line at Hogs +3 you would think money would be getting dumped on Ags but line really isn't moving that much yet.
I would have thought Hogs +11 or so would be about right with Allen out. Not that often that Vegas is so far off so maybe they do know something. Maybe they think the Ags defense is porous for some reason??
Weird spread.

THERE IS NO CURRENT SPREAD ON THE A&M; AT ARKANSAS GAME
Those citing the three point spread all point to the VegasInsider page. The only problem? VegasInsider doesn't show any books - either in Vegas or offshore - accepting action on the game. In fact, no books are taking action on it.
If a point spread cannot be bet, then it does not exist. It has as much value as the hot sports takes you hear on your local sports radio station. Which is to say, none at all.
I have been telling you guys for about 5 years now to take the vegas insider lines with a grain of salt.
They are not and never have been a bettable line anywhere. They are simply a guess by a website. Nothing more, nothing less. Anyone of us here could start a website and post our guess, same exact thing.
Vegas Insider posts NCAAF lines mid afternoon on Sundays and have been doing it for about a decade (from what I recall). The first lines that get posted are the LVH in Nevada and the Greek in carribean. They have been the first lines up forever, usually around 5pm or so on Sunday. Those lines are usually capped as well.
The major casinos post their lines Monday from early morning (after midnight on Sunday) until about 9am est when all lines are generally up unless there is some unknown (like a possibly injured qb).
It has been this way for at least 13 years (since I started with offshore accounts and paying attention to how and when lines are set).

Not yet. I should have some contact with folks who know today and tomorrow.

I'm just wondering since it's his throwing shoulder, he may play but not be 100%.

Okay, went back and took another look and you are 100% on the money.
Good info.

When Coach B openly answers the question...."if Brandon doesn't practice all week but is cleared to play Saturday, will he start."
"Yes, he will be the starter"
You know everyone below him sucks

I'll give it till tomorrow at noon (est) for a line to come out before I do the ATS thread. If not by then, we'll just leave this game off.

Yeah I loved his answer of "even if he doesn't practice all week and they clear him Saturday right before the game he will start."

When it comes out, the lowest it would be is A&M -10, and that's because the game is in Fayetteville.
Realistically - I'd say A&M -20, and that may even be low
Vegas is in the business of making $. The $ in this bet will be made in the spread. All this hype about -3 is getting stupid people hard right now.

I don't follow sports betting. Does this type of thing happen often? Scuttlebutt about lines that can't really be bet upon? Just curious.

Arky fans, do y'all believe Allen will play on Saturday or do you think its just gamesmanship by Bielema holding off on announcing he's not playing till game time?

I literally explain this 3 times per year, so I have it down pretty well now. I've gone into longer explainations about early "feeler" lines that are used offshore and capped at low betting limits and how the casinos do look at those to get a feel for how the action may go initially, before they set their line early Monday morning.
Anyway, vegasinsider has been quoted here as a legit line for years and it simply isn't. It is just an opinion of a website, no more valid than mine. They are making an educated guess and they are decent at it, but I have seen them off double digits from the actually spread several times in the past as well.
Funny thing is apparently ESPN thinks they are legit as well. Bunch of damn idiots really (ESPN).

I honestly couldn't believe he was out against Rutgers. I guess his shoulder injury is legit.
