It is. I'd hear the phrase as a kid in the 70's
Think it had more to do with people thinking Tiger Stadium was the greatest place in the world for Cfb and therefore it couldn't rain since its a perfect place
That's my memory of it as a very young child. The phrase "It never rains in Tiger Stadium" has been around for 40 years at least

No, it's WAY older than that. Even back in the '60s, it was a traditional thing to say...it never rains in Tiger Stadium. I don't know where or when it started, but it's at least 50+ years old. Dan Borne` might have popularized it with his "Chance of Rain...Never" announcements, but it had been around for a very long time before he started doing that.
