"Twenty-five years ago, 80,000 Tiger fans could cause an earthquake. Now, 80,000 of them can’t stick it out through some inclement weather. Oh, how far the “greatest college football fans on earth” have fallen."
quote:
The paid attendance was announced at 92,638, but there were never more than 80,000 people in Tiger Stadium on Saturday night. Even more embarrassing than the no-shows, more than half the crowd jumped ship as the rain subsided at the half.
It’s even more disgraceful because of what was honored Saturday night.
As LSU recognized the 25th anniversary of the Earthquake Game, a night when Tiger fans were loud enough to move the earth, fans were chased from the building by what coach Les Miles called “a very stiff dew.”

it says more about how the LSU fan base looks at Auburn these days than anything else.

It was miserable wet and they were up 21-0. This isn't the Auburn that these college kids daddies told them about. They thought the game was over. I didn't blame them for leaving. If this is the Bama or ATM game no one is leaving.

Quit ready after "greatest football fans on Earth." LSU fans are no different than any other school. If LSU is playing a good team and the weather is good, they'll show up and be loud. If they are playing a middle of road team or weather is bad. Forget about it. Loudest and craziest, possibly, but best. Noway. I think you need to go somewhere like Nebraska, Michigan, or Bama if you want to see the most supportive fans in the country.

Mark Richt has lost control of Auburn's ability to make a division game competitive.

Author was writing this as he sat on his tv by campus after he sold his ticket because he knew it would be raining.

So is a Saturday night in death valley reserved for good teams and fair weather now?

The author of that article was probably walking around campus all day in an Auburn shirt.

So not competitive games against ranked teams?
