The SEC isn't down....

There is just more parity in CFB this year.
As far as the SEC goes though, LSU is the best overall team right now. Just because Auburn scored 21 points on them doesn't mean anything, Gus is a good coach and if anyone thought Auburn would get shut out is just stupid. The Georgia game will be interesting though, so will the Florida game.
As for Bama, last night's game isn't one I took very seriously and neither should any of you. You all do realize that Coop didn't play, neither did Norwood, Jarrick, Nick Perry or Belue. John Fulton nor T.J. started so basically in the secondary we a true freshman and sophomores that have seen very limited playing time except for Jones. Everyone needs to calm down. There is still a lot of football left to be played.
Oregon looks like the best offensive team, but they haven't played any good defenses. Ohio State has a pretty good offense but the defense is very mediocre. Trust me when I say this, if the SEC champ plays either in January both would be in a world of hurt.
I think a lot of people are confusing SEC teams not blowing people out by 50 with the SEC being down, not the case. Programs outside the SEC will get better and continue to strive to dethrone us. What did you expect, they just give up and let us keep embarrassing them year in and out?

There are some good thoughts here. I agree to a point. I do believe that Bama's performance was the typical game where you follow the "circled" game with a lesser opponent and the intensity isn't there. LSU took the gas off in the 2nd quarter and never put it back on. That being said I do believe overall the conference is down. While the top half is still great, it's the bottom half that makes it seem down. Of course time will tell.
