While all the chatter has been about Saban going to Texas, there's a possibility that Texas may be coming to us. I know, you can hear the high pitched shrilly girly scream coming from the direction of College Station and hog snorting sounds from Fayetteville when something like that is suggested, but Texas would be a very good fit in the SEC, along with Oklahoma.

As the season winds down, I think you'll hear more and more interest about such a move.

You obviously know nothing about those two programs, then.

I grew up in Austin and both parents went to UTex. It would be the an awful fit. Just awful. Oklahoma, yes actually. They would fit in alright. But UT? Hell no.

This may be the dumbest thing I've ever read on tSECRant. You obviously know nothing about either of those two programs.

Why would Okie be a better fit than Texas?

Sorry

I've lived in Oklahoma on multiple occasions, OP. Neither OU nor oSu is a good SEC fit, I'm sorry.

Hell No! They are worse than Bama fans. Besides, they would never give up their network.

The Big XII will not fall apart for at least another ten years. Until then, we are stuck with your shitty threads.

The SEC already has Texas A&M. The SEC already has Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina. The SEC doesn't need Texas for the same reasons the SEC doesn't need Florida State, Georgia Tech, or Clemson. frick Texas.

I agree they are worse. But A&M and arkansas would go absolutely bonkers if that happened. Especially A&M.

The SEC tv money would probably be more than the LHN money though.

Sounds like you're just rooting for chaos instead of talking about actual possibilities.

Nope, just thinking out loud about the chaos that's Texas football right now. Think about it, in joining the SEC Texas would immediately bring a boatload of viewers and money to the conference if they were to join. The SEC would bring a boatload of viewers and money to Texas. Texas' exposure would increase overnight, they would once more be relevant in college football. It's a win-win (mostly) situation.

The biggest thing preventing Texas to the SEC, IMO, is that Texas would no longer have the control they currently have over a conference. They would no longer be the biggest fish in the smallest pond. Yes, it would be a blow to A&M, no doubt about that. The typical year would probably see A&M and Miss State battling it out for the bottom of the SEC west but I doubt Texas is concerned about that at this point in time.

There are probably only 2 reasons why Arkansas fans would be against Texas joining the SEC. The first is that they worry how it would affect recruiting in Texas, which I happen to think is silly. We haven't exactly lit it up in Texas since joining the SEC and I think our recruiting might pickup if Texas joined A&M in the SEC.

The second is that Texas is a PITA and destroys everything it touches in recent years. This, I completely agree with and it's actually the ONLY reason why I have no interest seeing Texas in the SEC. Those who want them to join, just don't understand, but I believe the presidents of our schools understand, because I've heard that they have no interest in inviting Texas for this reason.

Personally, I'd love to restart our rivalry with Texas and play them every year. My only worry is that I think they'd destroy the SEC. What some of you probably fail to understand is that Texas is very powerful politically, as well as financially, and they'd use both of those resources to shape the SEC to their liking. Yea, the State of Florida has a lot of people, but it doesn't compare with Texas in political power.

Those eyes are already on the SEC, judging by TV ratings for A&M games in the state of TX. Austin once again was among the leaders in ratings for the recent A&M/Bama game, and will be for most A&M games. Not very many new viewers to add.

That's great for Texas, but as I pointed out above, not really a gain for the SEC itself. The market is already saturated.

Texas' pride would not allow them to participate in such an arrangement. Look at what they did to Nebraska as soon as the big12 formed for proof of that.

Yes, it would be a blow to A&M, no doubt about that.

Which is why you better believe A&M made damn sure that locking the 'horns out would happen once we joined the SEC.

Now you're just trolling again.

The "fit" argument is dumb. A&M doesn't fit, but we're stuck with them. Texas has nothing to gain by joining the SEC. Nothing.
