This thread is full of so much Bama hate.

I love it.

Unless he's forced to retire due to concussions. Think of how many he "chose" to play through while at Bama.

Ingram needs another team. Why do the Saints have so many running backs?

When Ingram is given a little open field, he does great. The Saints want him to be a short-yardage, up-the-middle type back. Wasting his talents.

Kinda like Eric Reid, huh? Stealing Maximus' material is not a good look.

As was already mentioned, the Browns traded the third overall pick into a pick in the 17-20 range. They got fleeced.

The 3rd overall pick with a year of mileage on his wheels. RB's value is going to go down every year in the league much like driving a new car off the lot.

So they were all better than Ingram

Ingram - 3.8 ypc
Sproles - 6 ypc
Thomas - 4.8 ypc
Bush - 3.9 ypc
Ivory - 5.1 ypc

If you bring receiving into it, it gets a lot lot worse.

Reggie Bush was a 1st down machine

The Saints have tried him as the feature every down back. He isn't good in any role and is a horrible short yardage back. In the open field, he trips over himself and goes down very easily. I was excited when we drafted him, but the guy sucks.

Somehow PT, Sproles, and Ivory were able to find the open holes. Also, Ingram can't hold a candle to PT in the open field. I've watched every snap he's taken as a Saint and the experiment needs to end

Who cares how a college RB performs in the NFL? Look at Arian Foster, Stevan Ridley, etc.

Running backs should almost never be drafted in the first round.

My bad. I thought you were talking about football. I didn't know you were a dumbass just wanting to run down anything connected to Alabama. Carry on...........

Dude is legit, had 11 touchdowns as a rookie. Richardson will be a very good RB in the NFL

Naw. If you notice, most teams have a 2 down back and a goal line back. Rich is big enough to be a goal line back so he gets his carries down there. Have you watched a Browns game? The only thing he's good at is being a pass catcher which is usually a third down back and goal line carrier.

Reggie Bush sucked for the Saints and has done a good job elsewhere.

As a rookie he had 1300 yards from scrimmage and 8 TDs plus 200 punt return yards and a TD.

07' 12 GP 1000 Yards From Scrimmage 6TDs
08' 10 GP 850 YFS 6TDs, 270 return yards 3TDs
09' 14 GP 725 YFS 8TDs, 130 return yards
10' he was injured half the year

Bush was a 2nd and 3rd string back most of his Saints career and he was by far the best 2nd string RB I've seen in a long time.

Well, and scoring touchdowns, and breaking Browns rookie RB records.

Honest answer.

Saban does more with less talent than anyone in the history of college football as shown by how crappy the players are in the NFL. Saban is clearly the greatest coach of all time.

I'm fine with the Bama fans who argue this so long as they aren't the same guys saying their team is incredibly talented based on recruiting rankings

The Bama bump is a plausible explanation I suppose

I guess it makes sense for Cleveland to go into full rebuild mode again if they are going to start with linemen... but they not only traded picks to get the TR pick but they have now traded him away for a single lower pick in the first round AND the Browns are eating a big chunk of his contract.

Part of the reason Indy wanted TR is not just that they get a RB (since theirs is injury prone) but also that Cleveland paid TR a big bonus which will go on the Browns cap figures... the Colts are getting away without paying much of his contract.

You note that Thomas and Sproles average more per carry. As both are backs the Saints DO throw the ball to, they don't have the same issues Ingram does when he actually gets a handoff.

Everyone in the stadium knows when Ingram is in the game, he's either blocking, or carrying the ball. There's a different personnel grouping, so teams are able to put more bodies near the line of scrimmage, and let's face it, the Saints suck arse at run blocking.

Thomas and Sproles both are backs which run the kind of pass routes the Saints like. Ingram is a screen back, or dump off guy.

The NFL is a different breed, and there's just not many teams that COMMIT to running the ball. Power backs specialize in wearing defenses down, and they get their yards when defenses get tired.

Except of course...Adrian Peterson, who when it comes to running backs these days has his own zip code.

Saints have finished near the top in ypc in 2 of the last 3 years that sean payton has coached the Saints. We had the most yards EVER in 2011, and that included finishing 4th in YPC. We struggled in 2010 because we were down to our 7th string running back.

well he isn't very good at pass blocking, and has been terrible every time he's caught the ball. So that is his own doing. Look at Atlanta last year. Catches the ball in the open field, easy touchdown, and trips on his own 2 feet.

uh, Thomas' specialty is screens, as is sproles. They are both used as dump off guys in our offense.

The whole reason I was excited about Ingram was his supposed screen catching ability. He's the 3rd best back on our team at it though. PT and Sproles are amazing at it

Ingram has not been a power back at all. PT and Ivory have been power backs, but Ingram tries to bounce every single run outside with his not so blazing speed. Brees got crushed against atl on a playaction pass b/c ingram whiffed his block too.
