So do Bama RB prospects have the same issue as USC QB prospects under Pete Carrol did? Great surrounding cast that makes them appear better than they really are?

Without trying to flame, some commentators have suggested the heavy workload may be to blame. I'm not sure what to think. Those guys were monsters in college. Many of them benefited from running behind as good a line as has ever been assembled. It is hard to say.

They went from running behind an O-line that dominated folks to an average NFL line. The holes shrink up a frick ton faster in the NFL then they did at Bama. I tend to believe its still too early to call any of them bust. If Ingram doesn't step up this year than maybe the bust label will be deserved.

Too much hook showing on this one.

Do you believe the Browns traded him because they had faith in him?

Saban does more with less talent than anyone in the history of college football as shown by how crappy the players are in the NFL. Saban is clearly the greatest coach of all time

According to college recruiting rankings (Scout, Rivals, ESPN, etc.) this is absolutely false. Saban consistently pulls in the best high school talent every year. He has the most talent in the SEC, if not the country, to develop.

Mark Ingram- Heisman winner supposed to be a very good back in the NFL. Somehow, even though he's been in a very good passing offense to help back the safeties up, he still sucks so much arse. Still has time to get better I guess.

Mark is a guy who needs carries to get going. The way the Saints use him pisses me off some times, but there are no excuses for just how bad he has been.

Played for one of the worst teams in the leagues. Played 8 games with broken ribs. Had possibly the worst QB in the league last season. Played in possibly the toughest defensive division in the NFL with the Ravens, Steelers, and the Bengels. It is a little early to call a guy who hasn't been healthy for more than 5 or 6 games average.

quote:

Eddie Lacy- Way too early to have a valid opinion, but I think he's probably the best of this group. Still looked very average through his 1st 2 games

Dude played against the 49ers in the first game. He got a lot less touches in that game than he should've most likely because they took him out because of a fumble, but he came back in and scored a touchdown. He had 1 carry against the Redskins before he went out with a concussion.

One could argue Stevan Ridley is better than all of them.

Or a non LSU homer could mention that he plays for arguably one of if not the best passing team in the NFL with a first ballot hall of famer at QB.

One could also say this is incredibly dumb to look at because 2 of the guys you have listed haven't even played 20 games combined yet.

Come on dude, the browns are horrible and have much bigger problems than at running back. They used their biggest bargaining chip to parlay an extra first round pick. Looks to me as though they are dialing it in this year and are looking to rebuild.

Shaun Alexander is much loved up here in the Pac Northwest for his contributions to the Seahawks.

Oh... you said Bama running backs under Saban.

Never mind... carry on.

It's because they were never that good in the first place. ESPN and the REC alter game tape to make them look better.

So they took the third pick of the 2012 draft and turned it into like the 17-20 pick of the 2014 draft. fricking masterminds. All of this because they had faith in the guy they dealt. Interesting theory.

You really think TR is a bad NFL running back?

I'm not sure. Certainly has the ability to be. Anyone who read my posts in this thread would understand that I was addressing the lack of faith the Browns showed in him, not his talent.

It is what happens with new management quite often in professional sports. New management took over the Memphis Grizzlies this year and traded away a guy many considered to be the star player of team and then this offseason fired the most successful coach in franchise history.

It is a very good QB draft this upcoming season, so I wouldn't be surprised if they use this later pick they got from the Colts to pick a good QB in the 17-20 range. I'm excited as hell to see what Trent can do as part of a competent offense. It is why most people seem to think Eddie Lacey will be the most successful of the group, not because he is the better running back, but because Aaron Rodgers is his QB.
