I don't see how they could possibly be worth the price

Depends what you will use them for. Day at the pool or tailgating? Not worth it. The Coleman Extreme does just as good of a job, and are considerably lighter. Fishing all day in the extreme heat or sitting at the beach all day? Worth it.

They've become a status symbol.

Hell yes they are awesome. They are pricy but they do last.

If you're in a situation where ice isn't readily available, a YETI comes in handy. Ice lasts for days. So on a long fishing trip, they are useful.

just remember to pre cool, your cooler

Yetis and the like are heavy as shite, they are good when you dont have to move them or open them as often.

The pelican versions however are cheaper, bigger, and have a lifetime warranty. K@'s are a nice cheaper option as well

this. they are legit as far as being tough as nails and really keeping your ice cooler for longer.

i'd put them in the same category as costas, croakies, and columbia fishing shirts in that people who have no need for them buy them more often than not.

great for a hunting, beach, or road trip, but outside of that it's not worth the price.

They keep ice for a long time, and they are nigh indestructible.

That said, you could get 20-1000 coolers of any other brand you want for the same price.

They are a status symbol, unless your arse lives on the beach or goes hunting A LOT.

Unless you win one, or spend 200+ days a year on a boat, save yourself some money and get something else.

They are uhspensive. But I keep one in my truck all week long with water in it. I kinda like opening the cooler on the second day and not finding hot water.

And I got it at cost.

status symbol, I got one as a gift from a contractor I give work to and just gave it away last week to a different contractor. It sat on my shelf since Christmas and never got touched. I am going to wait a few weeks for my contractor to report back to me on how great it is so I can regret giving it away.....

I'm getting one.

If you need one, they're worth it.

Otherwise, your igloo cube will be just fine for tailgating.

Worth every penny to me. I'm not a hardcore fisherman, but I do a decent amount. I wanted a cooler that was well built and I wouldn't consistently be replacing hardware on it. Yeti provides that. And to not have to worry about 50 lbs of fresh tuna steaks while I went fishing the next day.... Priceless.

If you get a free trucker hat, obviously it is worth it.

DO your research before you buy a yeti. I bought a Pelican 65qt a couple of months ago. It's a little heavier but the hardware is more robust, it will hold ice longer (so it says), and it has a better warranty.

I had it at the coast while fishing for a week and only had to put ice in it twice. This was while filling and emptying the cooler with beer and water. It definately held ice better that my buddies yeti.

I gave around $275 for it.

Yetis arent that much better if you dont pre cool them and dont open the lid. if you treat a regular cooler the same as a yeti, they do pretty well. The other key is to use block ice.

There are several brands that are cheaper and of the same quality of yeti. they just dont have the marketing
