I've never seen an SEC opener at Auburn have so many empty seats. Get out of your basement and go to the game. I don't know what the problem is but if you sat home so u could watch the Tahd and Aggies play you should be ashamed. I'm concerned we may have 50/50 at the UGA and UA games because AU folks aren't going to the games. I get that we were 3-9 last year but its getting embarrassing. This is not intended for students, as the student section seems just fine.

A ton of those tickets are for the visiting team's fans, but this is what happens when your program is in the dumbs and the other program in the state is at the top.

Attendance was 86,000. How many more were you hoping for? According to Lanier

seating capacity of 87,451

If there were 85K people there, we have a 93-94K stadium

I saw a ton of people who left early from the student section.

The Grinders didn't even come close to filling their sections. Everyone else seemed to have filled up except the corners of the upper deck

Well I wasn't there so I can only go off of what reports say and you guys that actually went. Fan participation will not get any better with costs to attend going up, and being able to watch it from HD at home.

This is why I hope we don't expand, but just make vast improvements.

There was a frickton of empty seats in the upper decks. It was pretty embarrassing. The people that did show represented though.

Yeah, the corners of the decks were empty. I was expecting a whole lot more MSU fans though. WSU represented better than they did. Atmosphere at the game was still solid.

Tickets were about 35 bucks outside the gate. The attendance is based on how many people bought a ticket. I get the cost thing - just wanting folks to know you can show up and get a ticket far less than face value etc. I think we need to expand the student section when we have down year ticket sales. Something different - ideas are needed and need to be sent to the athletic dept.

We need to expand the student section so students not in block seating don't have to show up 3 hours early to just get an average seat. Half the reason people leave early is because the game isn't worth watching and they have been standing in the stadium for 2+ hours plus length of game

And always has been. Now that we are scanning and not tearing tix I would think they would have a more accurate number and be able to get it fairly quickly.

Also, do not discount the number of folks who stand on the ramps - either because they don't want to go all the way up to the top of the decks or because they want to smoke all game. The ramps were pretty full last night, and the only glaringly empty areas were the four upper deck corners and then some of the MSU sections in the NE corner of the bowl.

Part of it was MSU fans being no-shows. Otherwise, it has always been this wat for us. I did not miss a home game from 1991-2000. That was from going with my parents, high school, and as a student. Even when we were on top like during 1993-1994 when we won 20 in a row, only the LSU, UGA, FL, and bama home games were true sell outs.

We have a decent size alumni base and student body, but we are not a school with 50k students like FL or A&M and don't appear to want to be (a good thing IMO). Then most sidewalkers will always "roll with the tadd" which is fine. (FTR, our non-alums or students are cool and fellow Aubies, not sidewalkers ).

Honestly, our attendance is pretty consistant, whether the team is good or bad. The variation is nothing compared to 90% of other sports fans. When we were terrible in Bowden's last year, I was a student and attendance was still solid and not all that different than when we were on the 20 game win streak.

Important thing is the atmosphere is pretty consistantly outstanding for almost any SEC game year in and year out. Made me happy seeing a fired up Hare on TV last night from about 700 miles away.
