Really excited that we were able to win with 3 turnovers and nearly no rushing game. Last year our team would have given up and lost 30-17.

Moving forward we're going to have to run the ball better. Teams are going to stack the box against us the Oline has to get tough and get get to the next level. CAP and Mason had a few good 4 or 5 yards runs but the holes close up way to fast.

Grant is still showing he has big play ability, I wouldn't mind seeing him get the majority of the carries.

Nick Marshall has improved each week. I'm not sure if it's by design or he isn't reading the defense well enough yet, but there have been several times over the season I thought he should have kept the ball on the read option plays. I would like to see him get more of those looks.

WR's have to be more consistent. They've shown they can catch the ball, but need to work on being more consistent.

Defensively Mincy and Therezie had a great game. If we can get Davis healthy I think we'll be fine.

Frost and JG came in the game and made a huge impact. We seem to be more aggressive when they're on the field.

I didn't see much if anything from Gabe or Blackson but Danzey and Adams did get in the backfield a few times and were able to make the qb move out around in the pocket.

Our DE's are bad. I have no idea what DeLaine got some pt last night he and Sanders had no effect whatsover. Ford wiffed on a tackle in the redzone, but chased the qb out of bounds on one play then made an awesome open field tackle on a qb keeper to cause a MSU punt.

Play calling has been crazy this year. Not questing Gus, but sometimes he makes me scratch my head.

State stacked the box and dared Marshall to beat us. Our WR's have to start catching the fricking ball. Holy shite.

Teams are going to continue to stack the box on us. Marshall and the passing O hasn't done enough yet to change that. Oline has to know this and do better than we did last night.

I've already said this about the play calling. State was stacking the box, and NM has a hard time hitting deep, open WR's. There's not much to call except bubble screens, and short passes. I like NM. He has potential. But he is a junior, and there's no excuse in missing Coates by 10 yards on the deep ball. He also side arms the ball, and combine that with being 6' tall, will give him some tipped balls at the LOS. I'm not sold on him yet.

How many years of Division I quarterback coaching has he had?

Tre Mason needs to not fumble the GD ball.

Oh and that second half defense? Holland on the bench. Frost at MLB. Garrett at OLB. Therezie at star. Profit.

I don't think you understand how hard it is to find a great SEC quarterback. Nick Marshall is head and shoulders above Clint Moseley, Kiehl Frazier, and Jonathan Wallace (and probably even Barrett Trotter). And Auburn is 3-0 right now. Realistically, what more do you want? And I believe his late 4th quarter drive to win the game canceled some overthrows.

You act like he's the Jake Holland of the quarterback position.

Stop bitching.

The most disappointing thing for me besides the turnovers was the lack of an inside run game. I know a lot of that was due to MSU loading the box and daring us to beat with the pass but we still have to find a way to run inside. Would have like to see more of Payne later in the game.

Marshall took over that game today. Yes he still misses some throws but he also made some big time plays. He is very cool under pressure which makes me feel better about LSU. He drops a snap, picks it up and throws a long TD. Gets a pass batted and catches and goes 40 yds. Those are things you can't teach. He is just going to get better and better. Our WRs just need to catch the freaking football...

Defensively, I will take what we are doing. We aren't gonna shut anyone out but we keep us in the game. I really hope we see plenty of Frost and Garrett next week because the defense was way more aggressive although some of that was also the conservative playcalling. When Davis comes back we will have a solid defense I think

Overall I am happy we are 3-0. Twice we have found ways to win this season. We finally have a QB that can win us games. This isn't a title team but this is a team that should go bowling this season. Besides Davis it appears our best players are underclassmen which gives me a ton of hope for the future

I didn't know it took years of experience to hit open WR's.

Who's bitching? I'm just pointing out what he's doing wrong. Sorry you can't handle realistic opinions.

I didn't realize that the opposing defensive conditions and surrounding talent level of an SEC college football game were comparable to the high school football environment that the majority of his experience is in.

He does sling it sidearm. He does remind me of an unpolished D Craig.

What's everyone's opinion on how badly the absence of Chris Davis hurt us?

They moved Mincy over and started White, right?

I think White was in a position to stop that reverse State ran, but he got completely fooled by it.

Second half didn't hurt us that bad. Though, it seems when Holland is in, we play more zone and our CB'd are all terrible at zone coverage.

My observations and questions from last night:

JHS was LOUD. I loved it. Much better atmosphere than for Wazzou

Why did Frazier come in to run the wildcat? Was it just 1 play? Why didn't he use Wallace for the change of pace qb?

How much PT did Ford get? He didn't start did he?

Frost didn't come in right at the beginning of the 2nd half or did he?

Do we think our trouble with Prescott had to do with lack of film?

Marshall overthrew Coates again but the silver lining is that last drive showed his poise under pressure (poisbarner)

I was really hoping we would win by at least 10 if not more and look a lot more dominant heading to LSU. But a win is a win and maybe Gus will have the team playing lights out, inspired ball next weekend

It's great to be an Auburn Tiger

I don't know why and it was around 4 plays or so total.

Unless Gus posts here you or I will never know.

I saw him play special teams and no he didn't start. Might have missed him but I didn't see him on defense at all.

Not immediately.

Maybe that has a little to do with it but we knew going in he was a mobile QB with an unproven arm.

IMO I think our coaches were expecting Russell to play the majority of the game... I think we would've defended him Bette with more film and the expectation that he'd start. We did a much better job in the second half.

Granted that's speculation and maybe a little wishful thinking.
