SEC's detractors may be out in force next week

With high-profile losses by Georgia to Clemson, Florida to Miami and MSU to Oklahoma State already in the books, expected blowout losses in the UK-Louisville and UT-Oregon games, and an underdog Ole Miss on the road at Texas this weekend, the potential is there for a whole lot of SEC-bashing next week and in the weeks to come.
With our best OOC wins being against unranked BCS AQ teams Va. Tech, Wash. St., TCU and North Carolina, it will be hard to make excuses for the six (or even five) high profile losses noted above.

Valid points.
Don't much care though.

Well we lost by 3 to a top 10 team in their stadium. Granted we still lost but it shouldn't hurt us as much as the other losses listed.

and not a single frick will be given by me. I don't care what "sec detractors" say, I care about the BCS. We keep winning and we'll keep moving up.

The UGA and UF losses look bad, but the other games aren't ones that the SEC teams were supposed to win.
UT is historically a great program but they've been struggling recently, and Oregon would give any SEC team trouble.
OSU scheduled State so they could say that they beat an SEC team. The same could probably be said for Texas. I think it says a lot that other schools will hype up any game against an SEC team even if it's one that will likely have a 6-6 record.
If SC and Bama lost their opening games the bashing would be warranted. But, does anyone expect UT and UK to win this weekend?

I can't believe Vegas has the Lousiville / Kentucky game at 14. Could be lock of the year.

SOS calculations in the computers will affect the BCS. Voters, influenced by "SEC detractors", will affect it even more. Perception matters to voters, and won-lost records of other SEC teams matter to the computers that will be rating the SEC Champion against other conference champions with equal records.

You could say the same thing in reverse about all of the SEC's wins over other BCS AQ leagues, except maybe Auburn-Wazzu.

Soooooooo I get everyone shitting on Georgia for losing to MSU, Boise St, and UCF but you can suck a fat one if you wanna call losing @ the #8 teams house by 3 a "bad loss"
The SEC shouldn't be mad about that, Georgia fans can be by all means, but SEC fans and it's detractors can't call that a bad loss unless you wanna just say every loss is a bad loss. Then it works.

So, if the trend continues a 1-loss SEC champion doesn't get an auto-bid to the BCS national championship?

Huh? Florida's looks bad. We lost in the season opener on the road to a team currently ranked in the top 5, by 3 points. If there is such thing as a "good loss", that was one. And no I'm not claiming a moral victory, I'm just saying that that is not a bad loss in any way.

If the SEC does a clean sweep on rivalry week...nobody will give a frick what happened in Aug/Sept.

On the flip side of that, we were two TD underdogs. Also a mid level SEC defense held them to their lowest point total that they will put up all year.

Sorry this is such a touchy subject for you.
UGA's loss wasn't a "bad loss", but it looks bad for because it's a marquee SEC team losing an OOC game. This is one that Clemson (and the detractors) can beat their chest about as opposed to someone beating UK (sorry Wildcats.

SEC vs. BCS AQ league OOC (* indicates currently ranked team):
South Carolina*-UNC: WON
Miss. St.-Okla. St*.: LOST
Alabama*-Va. Tech: WON
LSU*-TCU: WON
Auburn-Wash. St.: WON
Georgia*-Clemson*: LOST
Florida*-Miami*: LOST
Kentucky-Louisville*: LOST
Tennessee-Oregon*: LOST
Ole Miss*-Texas: WON
So that puts the SEC at 5-5 vs. BCS AQ league teams (also have a loss to mid-major WKU by Kentucky). Note that four of the five wins have been by ranked SEC teams against unranked OOC teams, while the other featured unranked teams from both conferences. Against ranked OOC BCS AQ teams, the conference is 0-5 so far, despite the fact that the SEC team was ranked higher going into two of the games.
Upcoming, with projected results (* indicates currently ranked team):
Arkansas-Rutgers: Toss-up
Missouri-Indiana: WIN
South Carolina*-UCF: WIN
Vandy-Wake Forest: WIN
Georgia*-Ga. Tech: WIN
South Carolina*-Clemson*: Toss-up (slight underdog)
Florida*-FSU*: Toss-up (slight underdog)
That projects to 4-0 with three toss-ups, but the SEC is a slight underdog in two of the three tossups. Assuming 1-2 in the tossups, that's 5-2, added to our current 5-5 for a combined 10-7 vs. BCS AQ leagues, plus the aforementioned loss to a Sun Belt team. Against ranked OOC BCS AQ teams upcoming, we are projected 2 tossups with the SEC team being a slight underdog in both. Even assuming a split of the tossups, we would supplement our current 0-5 record vs. ranked OOC BCS AQ opponents with an additional 1-1, for a final slate of 1-6.
That is not the stuff that will get a one-loss SEC champion into the NC game over an undefeated Louisville, and maybe even a one-loss Clemson or FSU. And forget about a one-loss SEC team getting in over an undefeated Oregon/Stanford, Clemson/FSU, Ohio State/Michigan or Big XII champion.
