Obviously (hopefully) it's not this bad. But my best buddy found out his great grandad was a serial killer.

My 3x Great Grandfather was one of the largest plantation slave owners in Louisiana. After a slave revolt, he had 100 slaves' heads cut off and put on a pike as an example to others.

Ironically, in his last Will and Testament, he freed all of his slaves.

I read somewhere that Edward Longshanks was actually a solid dude and a quality leader, but it was the movie that decided he would be portrayed as William Tecumseh Sherman.

My grandfather fought in the mining wars in eastern Kentucky and killed three scabs. After the National Guard was sent in and the war settled between the Union and management, he was murdered in a set-up deep within one of the mines. No action was ever taken to find and prosecute his killer.

Ancestry.com claims my family is related to a pre-reformation Pope...

I think of that as pretty bad. They ruined Christianity, IMO through political and power hungry corruption

Yeah, I heard that my great, great, great grandfather or something was part of the Lincoln assassination and helped John Wilkes Booth. Then, I had to team up with some other people and go look for the City of Gold to clear his name.

Or, maybe that was a movie. Hmmmm.

My maternal great xx? grandfather William Powell's name (aka Osceola) could be taken for good or bad depending on which side you take.
