I wish we would build a rink for our hockey team. Having a NCAA hockey team would be bad arse.

Well I think they're finally realizing that baseball is becoming a revenue generating sport in the SEC with the TV deals and the growth of the sport and realize it's time to upgrade our facilities which are currently in the bottom two or three of the league. Not sure hockey is quite on that revenue level yet

Pour money into building a hockey facility that probably wouldn't have more attendance than women's basketball? Good idea.

Not to derail the thread, but I've thought about opening an ice-rink in Tuscaloosa. The one in Pelham has been around for a while. I'd be willing to work out a lease deal with UA Hockey. I'd hire someone to give lessons and teach kids how to do flips and spins and shite like that. Get a youth hockey league going. Maybe throw an arcade in there. IDK just brainstorming here.
The only problem is I know nothing about ice-rinks. I can't even skate.
And my cash is low due to my other business.
So, who's ready to invest.

There were some renderings that floated around several months ago but I don't think they were official or anything. Based on the changes described in the article I don't think they were particularly accurate either.

I'd be willing to bet that if the SEC started playing NCAA hockey, Alabama's attendance would equal that of baseball within 5 years and would average more students. Hell, the CLUB team plays in Pelham and is averaging over 1k a game. Over 2k shows up when they play Auburn and it sells out.

I don't understand the lack of fan support for Bama baseball even when I was a student and they were good.
