AUSTIN, Texas (AP) — Texas coach Mack Brown says quarterback David Ash remains questionable for Saturday's game against No. 25 Mississippi after head and shoulder injuries last week against BYU. Ash left in the second half of the 40-21 loss. Ash has been held out of practice and Brown said Wednesday he's still waiting to hear from team doctors on Ash's status for the next game. Brown says a final decision could be delayed until Saturday. Ash accounted for five touchdowns for the Longhorns (1-1) in a season-opening win against over New Mexico State. He had two touchdown passes against BYU. If Ash can't play, the Longhorns will start senior Case McCoy at quarterback, with freshman Tyrone Swoopes as the top backup. McCoy has six career starts.

Expect Young McCoy to have a Heisman like performance saturday

Doesn't take much to have that kind of performance against our secondary

After seeing what Ash did to us last year I never put anything past opposing qbs

Watch him start, but they are waiting until Saturday to announce this. Trying to play mind games.

Ash has been held out of practice the last three days, so I doubt they are playing any type of "mind games" with us, it must be fairly serious.

They need all the help they can get, they are trying to play mind games. If Mack really is feeling the heat I bet he plays the freshman.

Playing mind games by sitting your starting QB the whole week of practice before a game is a pretty stupid mind game, which leads to believe it's not a mind game.

No I don't think he plays, so saying he might is a mind game.IMO

On the positive side, our defense is quite healthy. Lack of contact is a wonderful preservative.

Vegas insider has Ash listed as "out" for the game...

He isn't playing. You don't just sit the starting QB all week of preparation, then magically expect him to know what that team is doing when he hasn't practiced.
What is even more important is this defense has only had Tuesday, Wed, and Thursday to practice with the guy who is going to be calling plays. One of the players even stated the PLAYERS are having to bring him along on the terminology.

If we lose this game we are the biggest fricking choke artists ever

Vegas knows better than anyone. They probably have 10 "insiders" advising the bookies with intel.

Vegas should probably do national rankings. They generally get shite pretty close. They set lines logically not based almost solely on wins and losses.

I don't think so. This Texas team is still talented. I watched the BYU game this past week. They just didn't make plays. Talent only takes you so far. It reminds me so much of Ole Miss 2011. The ironic thing is Ole Miss lost to BYU that year too.
This team just looks like a defeated team. It's time for change. Ole Miss would speed up that process with a win.
Boy if Ole Miss gets to 3-0 going into a bye week before Alabama. This season takes on a totally different view.

That view still won't include a win over Bama.

Your view definitely doesn't help.
I've never seen a fan base who ALWAYS had a foregone conclusion that we will suck no matter what. There wasn't a person anywhere who thought we would win 7 games last year. Not a person who ever thought Ole Miss could get the #1 overall player and DE, #1 WR, and #1 OL all in the same year with a top 10 recruiting class. For some reason there seems to be this feeling, hey let me be the guy to bring up WAOM so that if we do lose I can say "I told you so".
Personally I feel it's a new day at Ole Miss and this mindset needs to go away. I expect the team to go in and be focused to beat Texas and beat that team. And IF we lose, we lose. That team still has talent.
I'll be looking forward to the Bama game as well. To go to Bama and play the best in the country and see where you stand.
