I feel like most people are on board with this, what do you all think though? This article brings up Title IX.. will that ultimately keep this concept from ever happening? If you pay one you have to pay all?

They get enough. Maybe minor changes but focus on enforcement. Unless you want to flat out open the doors completely to college sports becoming another professional sports league, no major changes are needed. Even if you make some changes to allow for some flow of money, people will still cheat and pay more than allowed. It's like the speed limit. If it's 55, people will drive 65. Change it to 65 and they'll drive 75.

I'm kind of split on the idea. If universities are allowed to pay players, then there will be tons of oversight and regulation to come with it. What will happen to recruiting? school with the most money wins? or would there be a limit set across the league - every school can spend the same amount? I don't see anything like this ever happening.
However, what i think should be happening is some of the profit from jersey sales, autographs, t-shirts etc. should be given back to the athletes. I would also be okay with sponsorship outside of the university and ncaa.

I used to think paying student athletes a stipend for extra living expenses was not a bad idea, though the threads on the rant, I've changed my stance.
Student athletes get a ton of benefits from being student athletes. Special tutoring and educational services, housing, meals, physical training, medical care, transportation, and the like are all some pretty strong benefits of being a student athlete. Hell, if they even take care of business they may even get a free degree.
The whole stance is that the school is making so much money off the athletes, but many athletic departments run the entire budget in deficit. In most cases, it's a system that operates at best to cover the costs of having the program exist at all.
Intangibles like increased enrollment for the school from athletic successes do trickle into the system, but not in an easily measurable manner.
Plus, for every Johnny Football with the ability to make a significant amount of money off their likeness, there's 40 Donavin Newsoms. In my opinion, keeping everyone as close to the same level as possible is a huge part of keeping the whole system together. Even if there is some money given to the athletes, how would it be distributed, and would a JFF be happy getting the same amount as a third string lineman or punter or is that just the next issue?

If athletes start getting paid then they need to start paying tuition, room and board, books, food, insurance, etc.
