You've got to think so, but I could see four teams splitting them: A&M, Oregon, Clemson, and Ohio State.

But if the majority of voters see their first place vote go down, they give it to A&M, right?

FWIW I would hate to be #1 so early in the year...

It depends how it happens. If we play the way we should and beat them by 3 TDs... yes. If we play sloppy and only beat them by a field goal... maybe only number 2.

if they beat alabama, then Johnny Punkboy gets the Heisman again and yes they are no. 1 .

beating alabama is like beating oregon and Clemson in the same game, due to the SEC bias plus Alabama's success.

If Aggy wins in overtime, for instance, Bama will fall to 2 and A&M will move to 1. If Aggy wins in regulation, Bama falls to 2 and Aggy is promoted to the NFL (ranked 0). Same rules as always.

I do think that playing Alabama early in the year is a HUGE advantage. They have not figured out their O-line problems yet.

Also, if they really are just in for a down year (quite possible), we will get the benefit of being their first loss, and pollsters usually don't adjust later in the season.

You don't move from #6 to #1 unless everybody ahead of you loses. If this happened Oregon Clemson 1-2 Texas A&M #3

It really would depend on how they won. If Alabama looks like shite and everyone just says. Well, Alabama wasn't who we thought they were, then no. All the others would move up and Aggies would fall in rank.

If Alabama looks great, but A&M beats them anyway, then maybe.

Why not? A&M would have been preseason #2 if there weren't so many questions about the defense and Johnny. Those questions would be answered if we pulled off a win.

Why not? Because you will not go from 6 to 1 that's why, unless 2,3,4,5 all lose.

Because LSU inserted dry on Oregon in an opener and LSU didn't move into the top two because REASONS. The voters are dumb. I never did get that.
