Grinders at the Plainsman of Auburn. Who ya got?
Auburn is 2-0 with wins over Washington State (31-24) and Arkansas State (38-9).
MSU is 1-1 with a Loss to Oklahoma State (favorite to win Big 12) 21-3 and win over Alcorn 51-7.
Auburn will be facing a solid defense of MSU, who is great at stopping the run which running the ball is AU's strength. MSU's offense was stagnant against OSU, but seemed to be clicking much smoother with Dak Prescott at QB this week. Even though it was weaker competition, anyone with football knowledge could see the difference in execution.
AU is 109th in the nation in passing yards, but 15th in rushing. MSU has a good Dline and LBs. Secondary is the weakness so I would give MSU the edge in this matchup.
Auburn is 50th in points for, while they are 31st in points against.
MSU is 50th in passing yards, 53rd in rushing yards. Offense is much more balanced than AU's. MSU is 78th in points for, and 27th in points against.
Auburn has been more efficient in scoring, while yardage wise state is more balanced on Offense. State has a better defense, and has also faced a better offense than AU's, as Oklahoma State is known for an explosive offense.
I think overall AU has a more efficient offense, but it one sided. State has a good run D, with experienced linebackers and highly rated Dlinemen. State has an average offense facing AU's average defense.
Taking into account the game is played at Auburn, I predict a low scoring affair that comes down to defense and who has the better turnover ratio. I predict State squeezes out a win 21-17 if Dak starts at QB. If Russell starts, it's an even tossup.

We prepared to stop the pass with Ok State, which we did. We'll prepare to stop AUB and the run. Maybe they'll pass on us?

Running QB hurt us in the 2nd half...our offense being out of sync didn't allow the defense any rest. Watch the first half and we shut them down.

OSU adjusted by using their backup QB..we had prepared for the starter who wasn't a scrambler. We had shut him down and their RB then 2nd half OSU used Walsh and a different offensive scheme and we weren't ready for that.
Had State done the same early and put Dak in and changed our play calling, the game may have gone different. We still only allowed 21 points to a very high powered offense

I agree 100%... You guys are solid defensively ... A program on the rise if I've ever seen one.
